What will happen to the D2 heroes in D3?

Great idea We can come across their graves in D3 and have a side quest where we take revenge on the fallens who killed our heroes.

I'm going to be seriously disappointed if there isn't a Wizard-Assassin battle during the Wiz's storyline. It must happen, the lore works out perfectly. Just imagine, Valthek enlists the assassins to hunt down the rogue Wizard for stealing forbidden magic in Caldeum.

At least the Sorcerer from Diablo 1 didn't become the summoner via implied destiny. Must have been a different mage.

All heroes of d2 killed Prime Evils together. Barbarian, desperate after failing the quest of defending arreat and worldstone, starts to wander in wilderness also he lost his homeland in exploding of mt arreat.He forgets his skills loses all his gear has no goal.

Necromancer instantly returns with the news of worldstones explosion to the other necromancers to discuss what can happen in future.The most unlikely one to be possessed imo with the barb

Assassin disappears as Natalya did.I dont think she will have a role in d3 as a npc may be or possessed.

Amazon returns to the island where all amazons live

Druid lost his homeland too as they shared sam place with the barbarian society.Im not sure.. druids either can be possessed or not.Witnessing the destruction of the nature and his relatives can lead him to insanity.

I dont know what could happen to sorc and paladin.There is so much gap.Before destroying the worldstone tyrael sent everyone to Harrogath..So what happened then? Cain was still there how did he survived ? I read somewhere the blacksmith of Harrogath(forgotten his name) died during the explosion. So heroes and cain escaped the Harrogath and townsfolk died there ? I have many questions in mind to be answered..

Judging by this, it was a group effort.

I think it's a better explanation then to just pick one character. Everyone has a favorite and choosing The Barbarian or any one other as "the" true killer would be ignoring the existance of the others as if they "didn't matter".

I think only one character besides the Barbarian will be back. By elimination, I'd say the Necromancer or Paladin could come back as a playable character. All others will definitely be included at some point as NPCs either retired or gone mad or, as suggested, turned evil and might become lower bosses.

I'd like it if one of the D2 characters would grow envious of the new D3 heroes journey and try to stop you at some critical point so he/she would continue and steal your glory. It would be a nice twist to introduce a D2 char as a boss instead of the same old "turned/posessed by evil".
