    ^ Agreed.

I once lived with a guy who was a total slob, and wouldn't do any form of cleaning unless you asked repeatedly. Long story short that didn't last very long.

I'm not a clean freak, but I like to keep my place clean. I can't let dishes go for days unwashed or the floors go for weeks unswept. I hate the look of clutter and don't like being able to see dirt on floors/countertop/etc etc.

omg, me too! like... okay, the roommate i am talking about is not a total slob. his room might be, but that is his domain, idc what he does as long as he doesn't leave paper plates with food in the room and bring roaches. (afaik, it's just clothes and open luggage everywhere. we all eat in the living room/kitchen). but i think he is the kind of person who won't do something unless you ask him to do it or he does it for himself. an example would be like last night: i cooked chicken fried chicken, homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, and white gravy (omfg, it was so good. my belly hurt from how stuffed i was when i went to bed last night). they all kinda helped me get it started, but i battered my chicken, kept an eye on the potatoes, stirred the green beans, cooked the chicken, etc. Mara was the one to help me with the gravy and cutting the potatoes and helping me keep the kitchen clean while i cooked. we eat, my other roommate LP heads straight for bed because he has work early the next morning. so that left Marahumm, me, and Chau all up. and how i see it (and i grew up with this rule) if you cook, the other people clean. so i figured Mara and Chau could do it. I go to bed, Mara was playing a game. He says he can't remember if he asked Chau to do it or not, but Mara didn't pick up the pots and pans. so you would think the last guy awake in the house would, right? WRONG. I wake up this morning to let my dog out and i find last night's pots and pans, some with food in it still, still on the oven. that definitely woke me up for the morning because i was livid. i had to throw that food out (which made me angry because i could've used that for tonight's dinner or for lunch) and i was angry at both the guys.

another example is this past Monday there was a sink full of dirty dishes. And this is partly my fault too because i dicked around on here and facebook when i didn't have to, but i was tired and wanted to relax, not come home after a long day of work and work some more, ya know? I made an observation about the dishes not being done and i THINK, pretty sure, that Chau was like, "I wonder who's going to do them." ARE YOU SERIOUS?! for right now, you stay at home all day while the rest of us work! the very LEAST you can do is wash the damn dishes! that is what bothers me most is that he is home all day (hasn't found a job yet) and he doesn't. seem. to do. anything! i know when i stayed at home for two years i did dishes and laundry and kept the place clean.

my other roommate? oh, jesus.... for the most part, he is a clean guy. has a clean room, does the handy work around here (mow the lawn, help us if we have car problems, etc.) but when he cooks? oh hell no! his food is so delicious but i hate cleaning up after him because he makes so much of a goddamn mess! if he cleaned and cooked at the same time, i wouldn't be mad and wouldn't have a problem if there was a little mess. but oil and seasoning everywhere, knives and dishes all over the place, roots and etc. from the veggies he cooked from earlier STILL there on the counter. maybe im too anal about stuff when i cook, but man.... when you cook AND clean, it helps not only yourself but others as well!

these guys aren't bad guys and i feel the same as you, Shaigon, about clutter. but ffs, if something is blatantly obvious and needs to be picked up or cleaned, ****ING DO IT! if either of them were to have SOAKED the dishes i would've been okay with it! GOD. DAMNIT! now im mad again! XD

Yeah I definitely know where you're coming from.

It's no fun coming home from working 10+ hours to see that the dishes STILL aren't done, when all your room mate did was sit around and play Halo all day. (literally)

It's just little things like that that get to me. If you're home all day, is it going to kill you to take ~20 minutes out of your busy schedule to do the damn dishes? Other things like leaving empty bottles on the counter, when we've got a blue bag under the sink where we keep them until it's full. How hard is it to reach under the sink as opposed to setting the bottle on the counter top? If you can't complete simple tasks like that without being asked, you're lazy.

Thankfully I don't have to deal with that anymore.

    yes! omg, thank you! *hugs*

i don't want to kick him out. he's a nice guy and we enjoy his company. not only that, but he doesn't have anywhere to go so i am in no position to give him the boot. and, again, i don't want to. so there is going to be a house meeting tonight ad if we have to have a board with assigned chores, then it's going to happen. this bull hockey cannot go on much longer or i am going to say something i regret later.

Hmm, wasn't it Mark Twain who said that laziness can only be enjoyed if there's plenty of work to do?

    i only found this one:

"I was born lazy. I am no lazier now than I was forty years ago, but that is because I reached the limit forty years ago. You can't go beyond possibility."

You gotta do what you gotta do. Part of living on your own is cleaning.

Re: Things you hate because they're pointless and stupid -.-

Oh my. I'm glad you've never visited my house Leo.

I'm terrible at cleaning, and not so much out of laziness (although some is) but because I despise it!

It's not like I'll leave the dishes on the counter with food still on them for weeks on end. I throw out (or save) whatever food is left, wash off the plates real quick so it doesn't smell. But they might still be there after 2-3 weeks or more. But then again I tend to wash those same plates real quickly before I use them again for something else.

Also throw out trash and whatnot. Should be way better at using my vacume cleaner though. Dust everywhere. o.o And maybe stop leaving my clothes on the chairs, floor, couch and wherever else I can place them. =P

Something that is really annoying is people begging for money. Or more specifically people who are agressively/intrusive when begging. Either by asking several times after you've first said no and even start following you for a brief moment while begging. Or the people who walk up to you and act like they're your friend and you've known them forever and ask you for money, even when you've never seen the guy before.

This actually happened to me some time ago. I was just walking down the street, minding my own business while listening to some music. This guy sort of waves at me and starts walking towards me, and shakes my hand, pat me on the shoulder asking me whats up. At the time I almost wasn't even aware of my surroundings, walking on auto-pilot so he grabbed me completely by surprise, and even took me a couple seconds to realize I didn't even know the guy. O_O Freaked me out a little bit to be honest.

About a week later, same guy comes up to me and tries to pull the same thing. This time though I'm not shaking his hand, I promptly tell him I don't have any cash on me and just keep walking past him.

Friggin' 2 days later, the same guy AGAIN comes up to me, asks for money and I say no. Then he asks me if I'm religious? O_O Totally random and really really annoying!

If you're going to beg for money, find a paper cup, a nice corner and sit the **** down. Don't act like you're all bros with people.

Re: Things you hate because they're pointless and stupid -.-

I have the counter regarding the 'lazy' complaint -

People who expect someone else to take care of everything. There's only so much that I'm willing to do when I come home after a full day at work. When the house is a pig sty, the tasks not done, and the fambly draped on the couch watching daytime TV, I'll be DAMNED if someone is going to call <ME> lazy for not doing things.

And a follow-up - women who expect a man to do things, not because he's a gentleman, but simply because he's male. I can laugh about this some of the time, like when a teacher was literally hysteric about a mouse trapped in her room, but if women are going to be treated as equal then feck them if they want me to lift objects, fix things, or clean up simply because I have different genitalia.
