But for some non English people that is really hard. If foreigners are to learn Dutch they will often make mistakes similar to the one you mentioned, and they try not to but it's not that easy, speaking a second language.

That's true, but the vast majority that do that are native English speakers.

They use it just fine, the thing is as they are spoken the same and you can tell what is meant by the context they are used in, a lot of us no longer feel the need to care about using the grammar Nazi approved spelling and some of us even prefer to watch you get yOu'rE panties all twisted up over it.

This is a serious problem, actually. Some huge chunk of US youth (something around 30% iirc) are functionally illiterate. They cannot produce a coherent resume. We are talking about stupid mistakes no one in "there" right mind would ever dare put on a resume "cuz" it gets tossed in the rejection pile (where it belongs).

It might have to do with the failing school system which is only "their" to propagandize children into loyal idiot flag wavers. (No thread on this?)

I think that there was more illiteracy in the past, but it was less of a problem. Just 50 years ago, there were plenty of jobs for these people, so they had less problems with being or staying illiterate. If your job was to unload ships, work in a coal mine, dig holes, fell trees or empty garbage cans, you didn't have to do Einstein things like writing letters, adding numbers etc.

I was more so referring to the intraweb spellings. I don't get upset and correct everyone who uses them in the wrong context online, but I notice EVERY time. It just gets to me that these people can't grasp a simple grammar concept that was learned in what, elementary?

Ok. Just trying to be reasonable. Like many others, I'm not a native English speaker and I do my utmost to write correct English but every now and then it goes wrong, and I hope people understand that it's not as easy as it looks.

Native English speakers shouldn't go about butchering their language. It's stupid, annoying, and it makes it harder for us foreign people to understand what the hell they're on about.
