Hm, yes, that makes sense. These people went from here into the US because there was a time when we didn't tolerate dense weirdos. It didn't really help, however. The dense weirdos went away, but the dangerous weirdos stayed here.

I didn't find any as good that didn't have the word-that-shall-not-be-typed. There's this one that is trying to say that because they're being over-hyped that they're not successful, and there's this one that points out how much damage to traditional socialized schooling the charter system is doing.

I think both points have merit. When I look at education trends, I ALREADY see a long history of silver bullets and miracle cures peddled by barely accountable con men. Privatizing those won't eliminate them, but at least it prevents monopolization. The other problem, that of destroying the smug monopoly under union domination, is very real because teachers simply will not remain competitive if left to their own devices. The end result would be public schools not being much better than juvenile hall.

I work with scores of teachers and "educators"; trust me. It's not much different than the Army - if you don't have to perform, you generally won't. Some will, but you can't build reliable institutions on hope.

I'm disappointed with the LibreOffice 3.5 spell check and it's lack of known words, and spell check in general. I shouldn't have to educate the spell checker by adding common words. It's not true hate or anything, but I'm mopey about it, and "mopey" isn't a word, apparently, except it really is.

Regarding Bob's picture above, all steps should be converting yourself to a minimalist. Use the smallest gestures possible and say things like "mm" to save precious calories. Don't present anything, or it will provoke conflict.

A female cat usually give birth to an average of 5 kittens, twice a year, for maybe 10 years. That's 100 kittens during its lifetime. Obviously, all but two have to die on average in order to prevent an exponential growth of the cat population.

However, maybe we could change the saying to this:

Every time the word "blog-spot" turns to asterisks, a mouse cub dies... because a cat ate it, so its kittens could survive for another day.
