Protip - Maggie Barbarossa (RIP) used to absolutely hate baths as well. Thing was, we never understood she simply didn't like cold water (even on a hot day); once we started giving her very warm baths she was delighted. Never had to argue with her ever again about taking one.

In nature, the question of being pointless or stupid isn't asked. It just depends on getting away with it successfully... and as every mammal species has its own flea variant, they are very successful, I guess .

I imagine that corn isn't a huge fan of us creating big creepy machines to clip off their "plant-bits". So, while fleas are annoying, it could be much worse.

I hate the terrible situation in the Midwest where our soil is being heavily degraded year after year, while solutions to stop the topsoil erosion and contaminants are simple and easy to implement. Unfortunately since the price of corn is so high, farmers need to grow as much as they can for a larger profit, and can't afford to change their fields to be sustainable. It's a cruddy situation that's going to be even worse in twenty years.

Plus, the solutions themselves have problems inherent too.
