    Staff mods question

    Clearly I am looking in the wrong spot because I can't find it...

    simply enough, is it possible to get +4 to Venom on a Claw (that is I have seen lots of +3 Shadow claws, and +3 Venom claws, but no +1 Assassin/+3 Venom or +3 Shadow, +1 Venom claws). Is this a staff mod feature, or error, or what.

    In the same way, can Necro heads get +3 Summoning and then +3 Revive, or Barb Helms get +3 Warcries and +3 Battle Orders (or even +2/+3 for either).

    yes. max is +6 on a single item.

    a +3 Shadow claw with a +3 Venom staffmod = +6 Venom.

    ditto with neccy heads.

    the rare and precious +6 BO hat is beloved by prebuffing nubbelehs.

    So these items actually exist, but are outrageously rare and expensive I would imagine. Thanks.

    check the rare and magic items showoff threads and there's a few pics of similar items in there.

    the most useable examples are certainly very rare and get traded for bulk pixels.

    useable (eg: better than a runeword or a unique alternative) include:

    1: the mythical +6 Lit Sentry/+3 Mindblast 2sox Greater Talons of Quickness.
    2: +5/+6 Fireball/+5/+6 Fire Mastery orbs with 20% FCR
    3: +5/+6 Blessed Hammer/+3 Concentration/20fcr sceptres (do a google search for Viper Bludgeon, a massivly duped rare sceptre on USWest NL).
    4: +5/+6 FoH/+3 Conviction 2sox sceptres (with or without FCR)

    they can, and do, exist.

    Actually, it's harder to get claws with good staffmods compared to scepters and the likes. Half of the claws don't even get staffmods, which has influence on shopping and gambling mostly. Add to that the fact that venom is on the top edge of the skills to be chosen for staffmods, which also adds to their rarity. Another factor is the +3 to shadow skills that is a high Ilvl mod, so many affixes are possible.

    Not to say looking for other staffmod items is a breeze, but these make it extra troublesome for assassin claws. Also, there is no other option, as there are no runewords for claws that give +skills.

    Even though only half of the claws can have staffmods, claws are twice as likely to drop as other class-specific weapons (2/3 of the usual chance in contrast to 1/3 for the others). That more or less evens out in hell mode.

    Not the worst bit of necro'ing ever, but does anyone have a decent link for a staff mod affix list. I've hunted the german site with the weapon speed calc and it doesn't list staff mods (or I've missed it), also couldn't find it on AS.
