Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I have some problems with ATMA V. I recently installed 1.09d again and some stashes from a usb-stick.. Waited until i got my new asus.. Any how. When i try to mule over some items from one character to another, it's emty when i start d2 again. I have to use the backup (*.org) everytime it's goes wrong. So what can be the problem? Never had such problem before with 1.13c or 1.09d.

Which OS are you running and where is D2 1.09d installed? If the answer is Vista or win7 and your install is inside the 'Program Files' folder then that is your problem. You can either run everything as an admin or change your permissions for the D2 folder, you want to enable read/write for your user.

If it is not the problem then I am unsure of the reason and will await more info.

    Info like...
    Does this happen every time?
Are you simply moving items to and from 1.09d characters or are you trying to upgrade the items?

I'm using win7.. How do i change my permission? ATMA is installed in program files (x86). I'm only moving items from characters on amta. Nothing more.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

I'm going off what I believe is the correct way to do permissions. Most of the links I found sound very complicated. They are listed below if you want to use those instead. I just searched for 'changing security permissions win7'

You are going to want to do this for both the D2 folder and the ATMA folder. It is the same process.

Right click on the d2 folder in the Program Files (x86) folder.
Select Properties. Now select the Security Tab.
Click Edit and type in the admin password.
Click Add and type in the user name you use to log into windows.
Click OK to close that window. Select the user name you entered.
Now click on the check box for 'Full Control' in the second box under 'Allow'
This will select all the check boxes below it.
Click OK to close the box.

Now you need to move your saves out of the virtual folder, that I listed above, and into the Save folder in the D2 folder if they are saved there.

If you want the links I found here they are.
How do I change folder and file permissions?
Windows 7 Take Ownership and Grant Permissions to Access File & Folder
    File and Folder Permissions

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

Oh god. i think I just deleted a ber and many other items. I deleted a project, after moving all the items out of it. I neglected to move all the items out of my MFO finds stash, which I apparently made within the project I deleted. There IS a backup.

How do I restore the backup? :o

    Edit:
    And a Lo rune.

Also, false alarm. I found a copy from my external hard drive, since I only recently replaced my laptop. At least I'm confident I haven't touched that stash since then.

When i click on edit i can't type in the admin password any where? Really weird.

If you are already an admin you will not be required to enter a password. If you are sure you are not running as an admin and you cannot go past pressing the Edit button I am pretty clueless without an error message of some sort. Hopefully Oscuro is still around, he is the one who suggested messing with permissions.

I have not played D2 in a long time and simply installed everything out of the Program Files folder into the Desktop. Here is a quote of his post. He suggests doing it to the save folder though. He has not gone into detail as far as I know of his steps to do it.

I checked about my account. I have full access on it.. I reinstalled ATMA V. Put it in another folder.. When i muled some items and quitted the window: "Failed to save backup, continue? came up. I have autosave and auto backup checked.. Very weird.. Anyone else have the same problem with 1.09 and ATMA? I'm using ATMA V Pre 1.13.

What was your method of checking access? Using the "effective permissions" inquiry may show that you have full control since you are a member of the local administrators group (COMPUTERNAME\Administrators), even though that full control only applies when running something "as administrator". You need to additionally grant full control either directly to your user account or to another group which you are a member of.

As a quick check if you have the access set up correctly, go to the folder using explorer and right click... New on an empty spot. If you see the full selection of new files to create, you have elevated control. If you see only "Folder" with the little shield security icon (as shown in the attachment), you only have limited access.

Re: ATMA/GoMule/RWM etc - Help Thread

So I just reinstalled D2 and downloaded GoMule to get a stash from an old friend. But when I load my character in GoMule, I'm shown the newly started lvl 1 character. Why is this?

Im playing with the 1.12a patch, no mods.

    Cheers,
    snokster

Edit: the character I'm opening is lvl 19, but the one that is shown in GoMule is lvl 1 with just the starting items
