After a somewhat disappointing D3 start (at least for me) i decided to get back to good old Diablo 2. I didnt play on ladder for years, and want to start a SP character this time around. A couple of questions about this community rules that i didnt quite get, or to be more specific questions about supported mods.
I never used mods but RWM looks great, but links from this site points to a version for 1.13c Diablo2, and most recent version is 1.13d. Is 1.13c the patch everyone is playing on, will RWM work on 1.13d? Also i have seen a couple of ppl say they got Gheeds on their Sp char, isnt Gheed ladder only item? Does RWM also gives ladder only uniques?
I also i read that ATMAs can bug some items, so it would seem that GoMule would be better for muling, but i am under the impression that ATMAs is more popular, why?
Also if i trade something (and i doubt i will) is there a 100% certain way to be sure that the item is legit, not duped or anything?
RWM is the same for 1.13c and d.
All items drop in SP without any mods (except torch and Anni of course)
ATMA only bugs the indestructible mod on an item, so that it doesn't get removed when you unsocket it. Gomule is vastly more useful and popular for the current patch, I would recommend using it.
There is no way to be sure about an item being legit. Generally we don't trade with people we don't trust though.
Welcome to the SPF! You should maybe make an intro thread if you plan on hanging around here
Thanks for the reply, i do plan on staying around
so if i get this right things like Tomb Reaver can drop in SP? Awesome
And one final question - why does spell check tag Diablo as a mistake
^Ha. I never noticed that. You'd think it would be added to the dictionary around these parts.
Yup, you can find tomb reaver and gheeds and all that junk. Especially Tyrael's
The spell checker is from your browser, that's why!
That's it, I'm never using a browser again. You'd think I would have realized that lol.
Help! I'm a newb and just started playing Diablo 2 for the first time (bought it a decade ago). Characters are no longer playable. Edit: See bottom, I just can't use GoMule without making characters unplayable.
What happened:
I downloaded GoMule and opened my characters in it. I moved a sorcerer staff from my necro to my sorcerer. I tried opening the sorcerer in Diablo 2 to see if the item transferred and she wouldn't open- "Bad Inventory Data" error. I then tried the Necro and it said "Bad Dead Bones".
Then I tried to open the necro in GoMule and it said "disconnected" at the top of the window and displayed no items or anything- the character wouldn't load. Then I did the same for my sorcerer, same deal.
Did I ruin my characters?
I'm on a Mac 10.6.8 with GoMule R0.3 Donkey and the latest version of Diablo 2 (I've never updated it, I downloaded the version from Battle.net 5 days ago).
EDIT: I found backups of my characters in the GoMule folder and those restored the characters (In game and on GoMule). So I tried doing the item swap again and again the characters stopped working in GoMule and in Game. Thoughts?

I doubt you ruined your characters if your backups worked. I have little experience with a Mac, but I hope these either help you with your problem or get you to thinking of how to fix it.
Just a few questions.
Do you have LOD, the expansion? GoMule requires 1.10+ expansion to work properly. If you can I'd suggest trying to emulate windows and trying ATMA.
I'm not calling you a 'hacker' or anything like that, but I have to ask since it could be a possible reason for this.
Do you have any outside editing programs or have any items or characters from the web or open b.net? GoMule is picky about items. If it thinks the item is bad or not valid it will probably give you an error. As suggested in the above question try ATMA. ATMA is more forgiving of items and characters. It also works with classic, Diablo II without LOD. Again, I am only trying to help. I apologize if you feel offended by this question.
Ahh, I don't have the expansion. That's my problem. Thank you for your help!
I can't say I'm that committed to muling (or even playing Diablo 2) to spend the $10 on the expansion, but if I do, I will try GoMule and drop a reply to confirm that it works (or doesn't).
Also, I'm pretty ignorant about hacking and programming, but I appreciate the thorough response.
Kindly,
E
PS: This is the first time I've ever used a forum for anything.... it's magical! Thanks again for your help.

After being away from this community for awhile, I'm glad to come back. Unfortunately, I forgot how I set up Gomule originally. For some reason, Gomule is only recognizing the save files in C:/ProgramFiles(x86), but windows doesn't let other programs modify those in that folder, right? So I brought the files over onto the desktop. When I start up Gomule though, it doesn't recognize the desktop files.
Does anyone know what's up?
