@Jason: I can't connect. I see you MP'd yesterday, did you take Windows Firewall down?
Okay, I've opened ports 4000 and 6112, I've switched off Windows Firewall. Should work now *crosses fingers*.
I have a beginning hammerdin @ nm A1. I will advance asap to later acts, will check this thread back soon.
Anyone interested in Hell Baals? I'll check back shortly.
edit: perhaps I should check times in future...
Anyway, going again with my Whirler. Starting off by kicking sand in NM Little D's face, and proceding from there. IP (I think I've finally got all the settings right): ***** edit: Game down. Thanks to Bob for rushing me through the jungle. That session took me up to the point where I could equip my dual 1.07 eth Oath 'Zerkers. Sweeeeeeeeeeeet.
By the way, why does D2 pick up the LAN IP by default, when others need the WAN IP to join?

I believe it has been set to check the first IP it can pick up. If you have a router (like 99% of homes today do, lol), it will pick it up first.
Having another run with my Whirler. Starting in A5 NM. Feel free to join. Edit: game down. Cheers for playing, Tank.![]()

It's because of something called Network Adress Translation. Because there are not enough IP's for the whole world, you get one ip for your household, and all items you want on the net will get their own internal ip. When you connect OUT, the router translates the adress automatically. When you want people to connect in however, you need to port forward. The internet ip is not visible to the computer you are on - it only has one ip, the internal one. Only the router knows the external ip.
IPv6 will fix this.
