The banner ad at the top of the page frequently shows Google ads that mainly feature D2 pay-for-item sites. Since this site has a strong stance against buying items online, is there a way that you could change what results Google puts in its ad box?
We took on a new agency a couple of days ago and it takes a while for their inventory to settle down. They should disappear very shortly.

Is there somewhere to report bad ads on the website? Perhaps you should sticky a thread for this purpose?
Anyway, there's a bad ad displaying right now that you should nix. It's by mygamesfile.com and it's an ad saying "Diablo 2 Free, Legal" with a big "Download" button. I clicked the ad to go to the site, which is done in flash and looks quite snazzy. However I was immediately suspicious that they were offering these games for free, including recently released titles.
A google search turned up this site (among others): http://blog.spywareguide.com/2009/03...revisited.html
Apparently you no longer get malware from this site (so why does it still exist?) but anything you download is just a demo version, if that. Not so long ago, I wrote about
Mygamesfile.com
a site that promised "games", but insisted you download and install Zango before being taken to a series of extremely failure-filled demo versions. Well, I've been back to the site lately and things seem to have changed a little bit.
Yes, there is a place, this forum. I've merged your thread into the existing thread on advert queries which as luck would have it is regarding google adverts too. The answer, as you've probably seen now, is above this post.

A pizza hut ad made it so that I could not click on what I wanted to click on, even after I clicked the "Close" button and made it smaller. I clicked on the "Forums" drop down menu and then the ad covered up the forums.
What is an advert of *deleted* doing at the top of the site, fully knowing this site's stance against those kind of things?
Stuff like:
Spend $150 and receive a level 85 custom character!
Spend $35 and choose any skiller 40-44 life!
I find these adverts selling minute pixel space for relatively so much $ really disturbing; it is sad that people would spend so much money, and that they actually do, because year after year, these websites are still around. Someone's gotta be using their services.

It's the usual problem with google ads. Do you really think it was thread-worthy? It happens a lot and we (as a site) have nothing to do with that![]()
Maybe it's more effective to have a sticky about this, where URLs and/or screenshots are posted. Working though separate threads (partly posted in different forums as well) for each occurrence is certainly a bit awkward...

Google makes the ad collections and AFAIK the admins can disable certain ones, but they cannot remove them in advance. We have a separate forum for problematic issues like these, maybe it's better if they are reported there.

Sticky would be nice.
I still have the "spend $xx get yy for free!" ad on top.
The Mygamesfile-ad also still is there (left bottom).
Both of the above are visible while writing this reply.
Also the "google ads" (without pics) that sometimes appears consists usually solely of the same sites the spambots advert for ingame.

Spotted multiple times today.
I don't wanna be a whiner here, but... they're a thorn in the eye. Advertising just what this site (or the bulk of it's members) stands against.
Cheers,
