Ok so i'm back to the game after a long 8+ years, it's changed a bit i've noticed and i've read up on some of these guides. While I understand some of it, there is alot that I don't get cause of how deep this stuff goes now. Anyways, i'm starting a necromancer fresh, new account and nothing! I'm wanting to make him a bone necro for PvP and duelz n such. Would this be a horrible idea to start fresh like this? I don't know if I have it in me to make a MF sorc and level it and all that business , is there anyway of getting gear as I go or anything? I'm pretty patient so if there is some kind of alternative that would be awesome.
I just get confused cause I see things like this in the guides.
STRENGTH- Just enough to use your gear, with anni and torch I recommend about 10pts here.
Dusk and Mage Plates have nice low str requirements and look very attractive on the Necro.
I don't have any gear so I really don't know how much I should be putting into each stat and I don't want to screw up so my character is trash later on. I guess there is no real way to start fresh like this? Maybe I have to MF before I make a real character, suggestions?
Then again, maybe i'm just thinking too hard .. idk.
You're actually spot on in your second post.
The pvp guides assume that you have good gear at your disposal, and with that in mind focus on optimizing your stat/skill placement to reach the best possible result.
It works starting off with a bone necro, sure, but it will never be as fast as a sorc in the beginning. The reason is, as you correctly mentioned, mfing.
The best ways to get uniques and other good items are either to kill bosses or to kill high level monsters.
Obviously, bosses have a higher drop rate, so to reach the same income rate of good items from regular monsters, you need to be a fast killer too (which requires good gear, which you don't have if you start fresh)
The advantage of sorcs in all this is that they can teleport without having to rely on items such as enigma, which allows you to quicker reach bosses.
Not putting any strength on your first char will mean you can't wear any decent armor, meaning you'll die easily.
Guides advising you not to put points in strength also assumes you get rushed to hell, leeching experience from games, thus the need for armor(and thus also strength) is avoided. When you reach lvl70, you can use anni, at 75 torch, then enigma and finally the rest of your strength demanding gear. THEN you can start to kill and roam on your own.
Sorry for the wall of text, but here are a few suggestions to you.
- If you want to make a perfect built pvp necro, you need to get your items in advance. Surviving and getting items with no stats placed in strength would be difficult and take ages.
- It is possible to make a decent pvp necro from scratch, though it will probably take longer than if you started with a dedicated mf character.
After all, you can equip most gear by just reaching like 50 strength and relying on charms/rings/amulets to make up for the rest.- You can always try to get rushed and leech in other games, then try to grab good drops (people will dislike you though), and stick to no-strength until you have good gear. Might be boring too.
- The Corpse Explosion skill is excellent for PvM purposes. Make sure to use it.
40 points into strength won't ruin your build. You just aren't "perfect". On the other hand, getting perfect gear isn't exactly easy either. I'm sure you'll have fun duelling anyway.![]()
Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam!
Thanks alot, exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate it.![]()
