So after a friend of mine pointed out that Ber rune in armors gives 8% damage reduced, I got intrested in the topic. I have read the abbot thingy guide on pdr (hope I got it right with the shortening) but I never found any comments on build with tons of damage reduced by %. Well, it was stated that percentage stuff is better in pvp...
Anyways, few questions.
1) Does damage reduced stack? (eg Stormshield socketed /w a ber or Stormshield and Shaftstop)
2) If it does, does it mean that with 100% I won't be affected by physical nor elemental damage?
Since it won't be hard to acheave 100%... (Perfect CoA with 2 bers, Stormshield with 1 ber and Shaftstop = 104%)
Right. Is the 50% cap only for pvm/pvp or for both the same? And does it aply for mercs as well?
Also, in what order do the dr hop in, % or hard points first?
Same cap for pvp, pvm and merc. Hard (i.e. integer) pdr comes first, then percentage. If it were the other way around, true immortality would easily be possible. As it is now though, you must either use ES and face the perils of manaburn, Blood Mana and poisoning, or stack 70++ pdr to negate most physical dmg, which will leave your dmg seriously impaired.
On single player my barbarian has 85 points of damage reduction. In hell normal ranged tha I can tell cant actually hurt me. Most Melee cannot hurt me. Some enchanted or large monsters can punch through it, some very easily.
Im in hell act 5. I have no died since nightmare and have not really come that close very often. Most times I swing away with my meager life steal to get back what poison damage Im taking.
It takes a bit of sacrifice in other things. I have nearly no life or mana steal. Dont need mana as I am a pure double swinger. I wish I had more life steal, but its difficult to get in. I dont even have top of the line gear. If I could find what Im looking for, I would have about 120 hard points of physical damage reduction.
