Well, and there is a trait that has all of her spells bypass a portion of enemy resistance.
I'm sure I'll have more than one build especially one for soloing pvm, and no you're right, this build would mostly likely not be able to handle parts of nm and hell. But it's a PVP build and I should have stated that. The wizard also has a skill that lowers resistance, along with my team that will be buffing and debuffing, so I'm not really worried.
I thought somewhere they said they were looking to change Hell from its previous incarnation and not have the universal immunities. I'm not 100% sure if it's true or not, but just to be on the safe side, even though I know jack squint about what I'm going to do when I get there, I know I'm not going to have all of my skills in a single element. That burned WAAAAAY too hard in D2 with the Sorc.
Wiz will probably be my second character after WD, thinking of going for a kamakazee build. Try and beef up vitality/defense, weaken enemies with frost armor and kill by running up to them with explosive blast.
Skills:
Explosive Blast - crimson rune(+ dmg)
Ice armor - crimson rune (+ dmg)
Diamond skin - crimson rune (hopefully this will add some dmg to it)
Familiar - Alabaster (hopefully make it as weird as possible)
Teleport (to escape sticky situations) - Golden (reduce ressource cost)
Energy shield - Golden (reduce ressource cost)
wave of force - Obsidian (hopefully it will make it weirder)
Traits:
Toughness ---> ups vitality (5pts)
Prismatic Cloack ---> Adds dmg to armor skills (3pts)
Energy reserves ---> orbs restore arcane power (3pts)
Staff specialization (or other specialization) ---> ups spell dmg w/ staff (3pts)
Blur ---> Reduces dmg taken from melee (3pts)
Ball of lightning ---> Periodically strikes enemy w/ lightning dmg (1pt)
Conjured armor ---> Ups armor and armor skills (3pts)
Black Ice ---> Ups dmg to frozen enemies (3pts)
Anti-magic shield ---> reduces magic dmg taken (3pts)
Penetrating Spells ---> reduces enemy resistance to spells (3pts)
As a reader suggested, I merged two "plan your first wizard build" threads, because they were doing the same thing. Carry on....
I feel like arcane is going to be a lot of fun to play, so thats probably the first character I'll make in D3.
Diamond Skin and Energy Shield are no armors as I understand it. Only Storm Armor and Ice Armor should be mutually exclusive, afaik.
