Axe of Swiftness, in Diablo 1
It is the first time I am putting my hands on that, but I have bought the other day a basic bow of swiftness, which replaced the other bow I had from my other char since level 4.
It does nothing good except firing arrows at a nice rate, which I like and prefer over the other bows I have found in the past months.
I also have found the constricting ring, the demonspire coat, and the grand-father, which I all have put on my warrior. My rogue needs life, so I have given her life-related equipment.
My sorcerer sucks, which is explainable by the fact that all his spell levels are quite low compared to what they should be at his attained level.
Obs/Zod... from a barrel. On the PS1 version. I don't remember the stats, it was years ago. But Obs/Zod... from a barrel. Also things like Windforce + Royal Circlet in the same game on consecutive levels, some uniques that are useless but have a rarity in the hundreds according to Jarulf's guide, some decent AC armors I don't remember the stats of because I lost my old saves...
Grisword was selling (fifteen minutes ago) a Lord's Sword (4-12) of Speed, which I used to replace my Grandfather. Quite a lower damage, but heck, the speed adjustment makes up for it. I am not ready to switch for something other than haste and swiftness for future swords and bows. Talk of a gameplay change with that input-speed requirement...
I found this about a year ago, as far as I know it's one of the best swords in the game, if it were of "Swiftness" instead of "Speed" it woulda been the absolute best, not counting stat variance:

Nope. That's the best sword. Speed is better than swiftness. It is the same as haste but cheaper with repair costs. So that's the best you can get aside from stat variance.
"of Haste" is the best because it is written "fastest attack," while "of Speed" is the best because, as Clervis mentioned, of the cheaper repair costs. Both are great though, and that, at any rate.
EDIT: where did you find it, GodsChaingun?

Indeed, for "practical" uses, "of Speed" wins hands down; however, for "ideological" use, "of Haste" remains a great find. It therefore depends on the ground from which those are to be compared.
I always thought haste and speed ended up being the same speed due to a bug or their coding, anyways, I found a king's bastard sword of speed, and didn't care that it wasn't a perfect of haste. I also found a lot of other good items, I found a legitimate archangel's staff of apocalypse, only had 12 charges compared to the hacked version with tons more. I had a lot of other good items, but it has been so many years since i have played. Last time i tried to play there was no one to play with, no games were showing up because of my low level, and so I couldn't see much anything going on, that and I had to play on an old computer that I gave away, doesn't work on mine.
i too carried with me many, many, many years ago such a staff. i believe it had 12 charges, too, and i found another good one with a similar amount of charges, perhaps up to the 20s, although not as viable for various reasons.
concerning computer compatibility, here i am playing under ubuntu (instructions), and when i am up for a playing session, in cases where i am alone i fire up the old windows-xp machine connected to the network and using bridged mode on the host.
the reason why i like firing up another machine while playing is that whenever i am surrounded by an army, and cannot escape even with the help of harmony equipment, i have no choice but to choose "new game," or to hit alt-f4. doing so is quite dangerous practice, though, as millisecond-precision errors can result in permanent item-set loss. ensuring there is at least one sitting character in the game prevents game vanishing and thus the possibility of item loss. nothing is more desolate than exiting the game hearing the death sound at the same time. it is susceptible of happening any time. one cannot always have good reflexes, and with time will get caught by that. same thing with the hell cauldrons; he will get caught anytime he is not cautious enough. some cauldrons are very misplaced and are calling forth misuse. returning to the item-loss topic, i find that the best option whenever playing alone is to let yourself be killed, and to restart in town. then, you are able to retrieve your items. however, that does not work well with a warrior, or anything that is not a sorcerer, actually. both the warrior and the rogue may have tremendous difficulty in retrieving their items without proven secondary gear. it is why it is preferable to play with somebody else at least logged on, if not an actual person playing with you. then, you can try hitting the new-game menu button without fearing item-set disappearance, and without losing gold at the same time.
it might be possible, notwithstanding the legality of it, for a single machine to run two instances of the diablo process. be careful though, as the current version of virtualbox (v4.1.0) will crash whenever one ctrl-fs without first alt-tabbing out of the diablo process. such a crash is so intense that both processes are suffering from it, and the game is loss in an instant, together will all the items lying on the ground in it.
hope i have not diverged too much from the main topic. such late-night ramblings...
