I don't much like Billy Joel either, but at least the man can carry a tune.

Been on a bit of an Eminem bender lately, I really like the songs where he samples female vocalists.

Kaskade's voice's lovely, I wish he'd sing his own songs more often.

bloB: Not sure if serious. Sure, it's a fairly memorable 80's ballad; hardly a heavy hitter though. It's a little too paint-by-numbers to be anywhere near a "best rock ballads" list. Tina Turner is a legend, no doubt about that - but she clearly phoned in that track.

I'll confess to some sour grapes too. The Road Warrior blew my mind when I was a wee Dreddles - and it's still one of my all-time favorite films. When I saw the commercials for the third film, I BEGGED my parents to take me to see it at the cinema. They obliged. Sadly, the face-off between Blaster and Max in the Thunderdome was practically the only scene in that whole snooze-fest that didn't suck. :(

It's been 25-odd years, but I have my fingers crossed for Fury Road. Please, please rock my socks off. My inner child needs closure.

Oh, right, we were discussing "best ballads."

You can't go wrong with Elton John. He was banging out classics all through the 70s. I hate Candle in the Wind (the obvious choice) but two of my candidates would be:

Oh, c'mon, it wasn't that bad. It just wasn't very good, either.
