Cybernoid II performed by an orchestra. I never even played the game, but it truly sounds epic!

The music starts at 1:00 or so btw...

Blast from the past when there was actually good music:

Friedman and Becker - Speed Metal Symphony

It's from FranzHun so you should like it?
    This is so beautiful!

As for epic, I'm surprised no one has mentioned this: It builds up towards the climax at 2:06.

A favourite of mine is Liszt' Chasse-Neige, played by Arrau. It wasn't epic, until Berezovsky played it, focusing less on interpretation and beauty and more on speed and technique. The result: overall not as great an interpretation, but with some extremely epic moments. The epicness starts at 2:44.

2:20 to 3:20 should give you a pretty good idea. This is Brahms' German Requiem, made doubly epic by its words. "For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falleth away."

"Denn alles Fleisch, es ist wie Gras.
Und alle Herrlichkeit des Menschen wie des Grases Blumen.
Das Gras ist verdorret und die Blume abgefallen."

That piece has found a place among my favourites. Thanks for sharing. Truly epic!

To revive the topic, here's another masterpiece, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor from Johann Sebastian Bach, the godfather of heavy metal guitar solos! Pleayed by the greatest organist I know (Karl Richter) and on a magnificient organ. This incredible organ piece is taking you from the depths of the Abyss right into Heaven!

The last 3 minutes are particularly powerful. Turn the volume up!

Organ pieces are so magnificient because it involves an instrument which needs a full-blown cathedral! Grand organs must be BIG, POWERFUL and LOUD! Bass pipes like phone booths? YES! For organs, size does matter!

Re: Most epic piece of classic/romantic music ?

I've always had a fondness for the The Triumphal March from Aida. Sadly, most versions I've heard fall short of the version I first heard when I was about 10, with most using either a solo trumpet or even no trumpet at all and using a violin instead :(

This is the best version I found after about half an hour on YouTube, although this one is also very good. The piece is just robbed of it's grandeur when it's done as a trumpet solo, you really need the multiple trumpets.

FFS, why do all my YouTube links come out as white squares? This is the link to the video if it isn't working.
