I keep reading over and over when will diablo 3 be released.. Its very simple... Blizzard is a company, and their making games for profit, nothing happens unless the owner gets his billions of dollars. to ensure he gets even richer, he wants to milk as much money from us gamers as he can.
Its very clear, WoW is making millions of dollars, why create another game that could drop sales when they can create a monopoly and milk all the money out of WoW as they can.. So that being said, Diablo 3 WILL NOT COME OUT not until WoW IS dead or significantly droped sales and players... this is also the reason why star craft 2 isnt out yet. i give it another year. WoW can only be played soo much, i meen they already have 2 expansions, Its all about money... if u want diablo 3 to come out faster then boycot them and stop playing WoW.
Now you may ask " So why did they announce DIablo 3 soo early and make us wait 3 years"??? its very simple, think in regards to (WoW) again, follow the money , the players that stop playing WoW are getting hooked and promised a soon fresh game (diablo 3), Its all about making money.
If they announced d3 much later the players who quit WoW might forget about gaming and actually achieve goals in their lives rather then annticipate D3...
It pisses me off, They are doing this, but IF everyone starts to boycot and stop playing WoW Sooner something can be done.
Paranoid or what? Diablo 3 isnt out yet because it isnt finished, simple as that.
Agreed with Coleridge. Blizzard doesn't release games until they're done. I'd rather wait 3 or even 5 years for a superb game than have some crappy game shoved out before it's finished... like so many games are these days. Like those sports games... who can release new ones every 6 months!?
think what you want to , You have no facts to back up your claim and neither do I, but dont bash me because you fail too see why they are taking their sweet time.. You really think the release date will be when they have perfected the game? or a rushed product when WoW falls.. hmmm only time can tell. But like everything in REAL LIFE its all about the money.
MMORPG players and ARPG players might have some overlap, but it's not the same market.
Blizz already anounced working on a second MMO (although noone said "RPG" yet). So IF they are holding back D3, then it's because the new MMO isn't really on it's way yet. You know, it wouldn't be quite so popular with a not already drained WoW out there, would it? And if D3 comes out too soon, the chances of players going back to WoW before releasing their new honeypot would rise quite a bit...
Blizzard probably have put a lof of thought into their release schedule of games. The main reason they are so big today is because of their cashcow WoW. Most likely WoW will continue to do well even when Diablo 3 is released. But they need to be careful, a decline of a few million in WoW players could mean they need to start lay off people to keep a healthy budget.
In any case, why Diablo 3 is so far away is... a little bit of a mystery. I know Blizzard North was closed down, but waiting 10 years to play a sequel to a game that was, and still is, so popular isn't acceptable. Same goes for StarCraft 2.
I've said before, and I say it again; with the right people and ideas, a really good game shouldn't take more than 4-4.5 years to make. Remember that Diablo came out in November 1996, Diablo 2 in June 2000. That's a little more than 3.5 years. And now, they are probably lucky to make it 2010 with Diablo 3.
You've got your opinions, others got theirs. You asked for our opinions about why it's taking so long, and after sharing it with you, you tell us to stop bashing your opinion? I fail to see where I did that.
As others mentioned ARPG and MMORPG are not the same market. Some may go from D3 to WoW, but it doesn't matter much to Blizzard. Do you know why I believe so? While yes real life is often about money, Blizzard have demonstrated they have no issues with scrapping a game if they don't like it. Rumors has it that it happened to D3 at one point, and it was AFAIK confirmed that Starcraft: Ghost was scrapped since they didn't like it. Blizzard makes quality games and make a fortune with it. They won't rush a game because sales of one is dropping. They make quality games, and they have a very good reputation for it. Ask anyone who know anything about games and game developers.
It takes a long time to create a game with as much content as Diablo. That's it.
No WoW conspiracy theories here.
