Do I need line of sight to target something? Line of effect? No obstructions?
What sorts of items can I grab with TK assuming I have the room?
I have TK at level 1 base + 1 from an item.
tk used to be able to grab lots of things - giving sorcs an unfair advantage at loot. Since then its been reduced to picking up standard supplies, scrolls, pots, keys, and bolts, not that you need those.
It can be used to open chests (without los) as I typically would open the chest next to the tower in black marsh from inside the tower before going in.
Oh and has some minor damage (cant remember type) and possibility to kb.

Addition to SeCKSEgai's list of things TK can pick up: gold.
Another addition: You can also use it to activate waypoints (useful in town if you don't have any FRW equipped)
The minor damage is lightning-based (and useless), but the knockback portion can work against lightning immunes. It works like a normal "knockback" in that it's more effective against "small" monsters, limited against "medium" monsters, and ineffective against "big" monsters.
TK is a very useful skill for sorcs that are facing a monster that's immune to their attacks, because the knockback can "distract" the monster, giving your merc a better opportunity to go on the offensive and make the kill.
For the range, since it doesn't have an Area of Effect, you need to aim it directly at a monster. Usually to attack with it you'll just "namelock" them and spam TK repeatedly. It's range can hit any monster that's on-screen, and I'm guessing with namelock and the knockback, it can push the monsters off screen.
I don't know about the line of sight rules.
Telekinesis always has 35% chance to apply Knockback to an eligible target selected within a 16 2/3 yard radius of the Sorceress: monster size is only relevant to Knockback from items (100% vs Small, 25% vs Large and 50% vs all other eligible targets) and Molten Boulder (cannot knock back Large monsters). The radius covers most of the visible screen, with the exceptions of the top corners.
For reference, the following monsters cannot be knocked back (most for obvious reasons):
- Blood Hawk Nest
- Griswold
- Gargoyle Trap
- Andariel
- Mummy Sarcophagus
- Fire Tower
- Sand Maggot Egg
- Coldworm the Burrower
- Lightning Spire
- Duriel
- Mephisto
- Trapped Soul
- Izual
- Window
- Diablo
- Bone Prison
- Catapult
- Suicide Minion
- Barricade
- Barricaded Door
- Barricaded Tower
- Prison Door
- Evil Demon Hut
- Nihlathak
- Talic
- Madawc
- Korlic
- Baal
I like using tk to pop the seals in act 4, and screw over the bots/leechers in the game.
It's also useful for stealing shrines.
Those are my 2 favorite uses.
Yep did forget the 4 gold - I use it for that and opening chests more than anything.
Then I use it for activating portals (that will) and shrines.
I hate people who pop seals early. Luckily i'm usually prepared and hiding.
Can you blame me for not wanting to stat until level 80+ =P
