In the concept art, Dark Berserkers and Dark Cultists are described as "Triune Bloodguards" and "Triune Cultists" respectively. That got me thinking. Triune means a meeting of three. The three prime evils have merged together into the monstrosity we saw in the cinematic trailer, and a new cult has been born to worship them.
If I'm right, I hope this one is the final boss and does NOT have an original name or a name like "Mephidiabaal." It's gotta be Diablo.
And for those wondering what would happen in the expansion, Diablo could have split from his brothers and become "pure", then be the new final boss, with Baal and Mephisto as mini bosses, perhaps. Or fighting all 3 at once!
The Triune play a major part in the Sin War Novels. It is in fact the main peanut's quest to destroy the Triune in Book 2 (starts at the end of book 1) The Triune worship the Primes but they are not known by their real names nor who they really are. So the Triune in DIII will be a resurrection of the Sin War "cult". How? I don't know... But that makes me believe one of two things:
1) Either the Primes are back in DIII or
2) Someone is posing as the Primes (maybe Tyrael (for the people who think he might be evil) or Belial or some other character. Maybe even Inarius, what a twist that will be.)
You must read the books, you need to if you want to know the backbone of Diablo lore... They are very good!
Crap, pwned by Zsig, beat me to the post. i hate broken internetz.
yeh, everything he said, the majority of the triune worshipers were in ignorance about what they realy worshiped. Diablo, Mephisto and Baal are known to the majority of triune worshipers as peacefull gods of nature/justice...etc. they also go by diferent names. it's only the deeper, darker members of the triune that know what they realy worship. creepy stuff, i liked that side to the books.
you know who i would like to see again?
Lucion, shame he is dead..
