It might be beneficial to replace the sol's with Um's or 15 all res/xx jewels for extra res. Everyone is absolutely right about using a tap wand and buffing with a treachery and using howl to thin the heard, it makes things A LOT easier.
Life tap/CB/OW's > Ubers.
Well, I gave uber Tristram a second stab today, and I won!
You guys were absolutely right about using Howl and Treachery armor. I put on the Treachery, let myself get hit a few times in act 1, and then I was ethereal. Ran into the red portal to Tristram and I faced Mephisto first. I looked at my stats screen and my resists were in the 60s (except for cold, which was in the 20s). I hit weapon switch to where I was holding the life tap wand and casted it on him. I switched back to the maul then went after him. The life tap charges on the wand are lvl 5 so the curse didn't last very long, and I had to recast it like 3 times. However, it was enough that the Fade from the Treachery didn't stop, and I was able to have my revenge.
Next was Baal, who was still a pain to deal with. This time I actually bothered to use Howl, and the vampires and wraiths all fled the screen. Since he's not poison immune like Mephisto, my poison damage was able to stop him from regenerating too much when OW wasn't working.
After owning Baal, I went on to Diablo where he died just as easily as the first time.
Now I got myself my own standard of heroes, and the torch that dropped was for an Amazon, 20 stats and 19 resist--darn near perfect!
Funny enough, before I made the game I rounded up a few other high level players and asked them if they would join me in case I died, but I did want to try soloing it first (I was gong to message them the game name and password if I died). Turns out I didn't need their help, but after the Zon torch dropped, I let one of the Barbs who was going to help me but didn't have his own torch take the one I had (since you can only have one in your inventory anyway). I was in a charitable mood since I was able to have victory at last.
Now that I have that awesome Zon torch I might trade it for a equivalent Barb one or I might feel compelled to make a new Zon, we'll see.
So yes, an IK Barb is capable of taking down Uber Tristram, but it does require two key components--Howl and Treachery (or at least some other way to overstack resists, but that was an easy way nevertheless). Thanks for all the advice.
NICE. Good job and congrats on the awesome torch. You defineatly deserved a good drop after all the effort.
Cheers
You can overstack resists with allres GCs. In this case it's surely better than e.g. warcry or max/ar charms. Using Treachery for its ctc fade could be considered as cheating, as you replaced the IK armor with something else. Using a wand with lifetap charges in the weapon switch should be OK, however, you still have the maul in the other slot, after all.
Regarding the vampires, you could use a Rising Sun amulet, so the meteors are actually healing you, even with bad resists (as well as nearly any fire attack in PvM) and you will appreciate the presence of the vampires a lot. That might depend on which amulet you usually wear, however.

You know I'm born to lose / and gambling is for fools / but that's the way I like it, baby / I don't want to live forever!

All res GC is the logical way, but it is very expensive, and not to mention high chance of being duped (especially the 15 ). Anyway why is that cheating ? If you want to call something cheating at least be a purist.
Like the moment your IK glows disappears it is cheating. The moment you switch something out it is cheating and IK glows gone, it is cheating.
Krischan didn't specifically state himself that using Treachery is cheating...
He simply said that other freaks with sticks up their bums might consider the uber run as not 100% legit IK barbarian gear.
