i could buy all of Las Vegas with 2 trillion dollars and still have a huge amount of money afterwards...... 2 trillion is A LOT of money .......
u know that the Obama Inaugeration, i was looking at the picture of all the heads of people in that massive crowd on tv and than trying to relate it to the millions that were suppose to be there.
that crowd was imaginably massive...and it was only a few million of people...
i didn't realize how big a few million really was..... the word "million" i could kinda understand, but when i saw what an actuall amount of a few million looked like at the Obama Inaugeration, i found out i really had no idea just how big or much a few million really is.
i don't think it's possible for me to ever imagine or comprehend a billion, let alone a trillion... or 2 trillion..... be it people or money ...
Just remember, Nancy Pelosi thinks she is nonpartisan:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2...stimulus-vote/
She's too clueless to be in charge of anything. Someone needs to go smack some sense into the California electorate.
its a good thing i don't vote. or i'd get smacked by u
at least us californians will survive when the machines and robots take over, cuz we got arnold who'll portect us !!!!
muhahaha !!!
Lets go back a bit here. The original problem was caused by a few greedy fools, greedy but not that bright. Actually it went further than that, mortgage brokers and lenders giving loans to people who couldn't afford them, then selling these bad loans to investors under the assumption that they were AAA rated (good) when in fact they were more like BBB rated (bad). These same loans being sold many times over, and the few got richer, until the consumer eventually started defaulting on the loans and investers started asking questions.
Then the **** hit the fan - mortgage insurers started calling in loans; this is when the antics of these greedy mortgage brokers and lenders, etc became apparant and that these loans could never be repaid. Lenders and mortgage insurers started going broke, the consumers returned their keys to the banks (jingle mail i believe they call it) and walked away from their homes ( ah!, the beauty of non-recourse lending ), the financial system fell in a screaming heap. Supposedly stable financial institutions that had been in operation for 100+ went bust. All of this because of a poorly regulated financial system that encouraged dodgy deals to be made all in the name of the mighty dollar. Capitalism at its best.
Then the Share Market crashed like never seen before. That's a whole new subject. Millions of consumers lost everything having their retirement savings wiped out within the space of a few months.
Well guess what? It's now time to pay for these actions. It's sad that the few have created so much of a mess for the many. Well for the entire world actually. Every economy is now in or heading towards recession. Property prices, comodity prices, share prices, superannuation savings have been slashed
Where does the healing begin? Finding those responsible and hanging them from the nearest tree i suspect. It may make some feel better in the short term but probably won't help in the long run. It starts with the Governments of the world of course and particularly with the US Government. These governments must take whatever actions that they see as necessary to try to dig their countries out of the huge holes that have been created. There is no other choice!!
How's the saying go? America gets a cold! The world gets the Flu!
IMO Barrack Obama is possibly the first positive sign that the US has had for a long time. The man and his people should be given a chance. Hopefully he will last more than his first term so he gets a chance to make a difference. Americans owe him at least that.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it!
"his people" who are his people....black people, or like his administration kinda people?
And to Heg. this stimulus package..imagine this.
$1000 bills stacked on top of each other 4 inches high = 1 million.
This package 819 billion i believe would be around 63 miles high..MILES..of 1000$ bills. Its insane.
If your clueless you tend to come here and run for office.
FYI - the Bad Mortgages alone did not cause this, it's the leverage that was added to them along the way via the derivatives markets, AIG, Goldman Sacks, etc.
The $62 trillion dollar credit derivatives market is 50 times the size of the subprime mortgage derivatives market, and is indeed larger than the entire global economy.

to summarise it all to only 3 words:
greed over responsibility
even in 2009, humans haven't learned that greed is more than one of the 7 sins, it's dangerous, and now it threatens the entire world with the pandemic economic crisis.
To CyberHawk: When i referred to "his people", there is no mention of race whatsoever. I was simply referring to Obama and his administration. Thanks for the question
BobCox 2: "Bad Loans", yes you are absolutely right, there most definitely is a whole lot more to it than bad loans. I tried to keep it uncomplicated, not everyone understands derivatives but I'm sure they do loans, people out on the street, loss of jobs, wealth etc
One Difference (among many) between here and where you were vdzele.
(I was looking for the SNL version from the 70's but this will do for now.)
We Americans need to realize that we are not going to be dictated to, we are the most powerful branch of the government and we need to get with the program and start acting like it.
I have had enough of feeling/being powerless and being around others who feel powerless. I have had enough of the "liberals" who accept the bondage of others and continue to pay into the system. I have had enough of the "conservatives" who promote the expansion of government into their own personal lives and pay for it.
When will we, the people, wake up and take charge of our own lives, of our own government?

Obama's "people":
1. all americans ("minorities" and "whites". though in some places "whites" are minorities in the U.S. due to hispanics-mexicans-latinos illegally or legally coming to the U.S. like my state of california. i've heard that hispanics now have like ~51% of the california population making "whites" the minorities now)
2. minorities. specifically "blacks", but also can be any minority
3. democrats-liberals
4. his administration/cabinet members
in the person's (brutass) post, he never mentioned which he was refering too and his tone is unknown from his prose/text/post. he is neither condescending or sarcastic, even if he did mention who he ment by "Obama's people" (which he did not).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
as to race, i haven't been paying much attention to the demographics of the senate, but....
now it's 99 "white" people and that one "black" guy picked by blagovich and recently affirmed by the senate to be in the senate.
that's a bit of a "white" majority 99 "whites" to 1 "black" in the senate
