Dual grief should be very close to grief/beast, but I sense there is still room for improvement

I didn't like the dual grief pb version of my GFer though, I have really got used to the more relaxed tempo of the warcry barb

I borrowed a couple of 6xLem hork weapons from Jaedhann to replace my Lem'ed Alibaba's... and my totals went down. I think that about sums up my luck during the 9th 30 minute stretch.

I'll do one more pass with the Lem'ed weapons, as it'd been a while since I ran with Igor, so I was out of practice at the start and it may have cost me a run overall. And maybe I'll be able to break 8M if I get better luck.

I'll edit this post to add the 10th run when I'm done, and update my average at that time.


Edit: It's amazing the difference a few good runs makes. My best run during batch #10 was really good, and produced about 850k (about ~150k of that from a champ pack that spawned nearby). 850k is probably good enough to make my top5 runs of all time (in a couple of thousand runs). That run and having a pretty reliable average (~400k throughout) had me easily on pace for over 8M for the last batch. But my final 3 runs only produced about 500k gold total, which meant I didn't even match my previous 30 minute best (despite having ~150% more GF on hork for this pass).

In regards to Ali Baba's vs. socketed 6xLem weapons, I definitely prefer the Alibaba's. It means less gold over time, but I think in the long run having the MF boost for horking is worth it for me. Not having 12 Lems available to burn right now also makes the decision pretty easy.


That's officially it for me in this tournament (at least until I hax up some more silly runewords to go with my new Enigma and do a rebuild). I couldn't do much to push myself out of the middle of the pack, but I can live with that - as Fabian has demonstrated, that last push towards top results requires some pretty top gear across the board (and some extensive testing). I don't have the inclination to push any harder on this, nor do I have an abundance of super-nice GF gear... and I doubt I ever will.

Decided to do a serious test of Death Cleaver versus Death for the second hand. Three 30 minute sets with each. The best run with the Death Cleaver beat out the worst run with the Death, though just slightly. It's not a lot of testing, but the luck was pretty even (except for my new record run) so it's looking like Death is the better option. Especially considering it'd be really tough to cobble together a better DC than this, while the Death is a fairly low roll (336).

Ten million is a nice mark and I don't think I'll be beating that without restricting what I pick up even further, and I don't think that's going to happen. Unless I manage to get an Enigma or drastically improve my weapons, I doubt I'll be doing any more running for this tournament. Was really enjoyable trying to eek out every bit I could out of Gib, though.

I figured I could have made another couple thousand if I went for a few more chests. Didn't want to risk going over 30 mins though.

With a lvl 99 character it takes averagely 160.000.000.000 gold to gamble a Tyraels might. (for lower chars the odds to gamble TC87 is much lower). So with 32.000.000 gold each hour Fabian can have enough gold to gamble Tyraels after about 5000 hours. (likely he will spend more then 5000 hours refreshing the gamble screen though and transfering gold )
Conclusion: gambling ancient armors is not worth it , allthough a gambled T'might would have bonus stylepoints.

edit: finding Tyraels might in a lvl 85 area with 10sec/unique will take average 1000 hours to compare.

Oh hai guise.

Put together a goldbarb today. Ran him for a bit to get used to playing in Trav again, then took him out for a spin in this tournament. I died once and aborted a run once, so overall I wouldn't call it a huge success. He sure collects a lot of gold though, and this is with equipment which still can be improvable. I played with a Teleport amulet with 0% GF (nice other mods though), which kinda sucks, and a few of my charms are less than great. The belt kinda sucks too, it's mostly there for 80% GF and not much else.

1030 Equipment, 900 Switch, 606 Charms for a total of 1636 on kill, 2536 on hork.

Kill speed is more or less fine on p3, though it's certainly not what you're used to when doing Trav in non-GF gear. It would be a lot faster on p1, but you'd get fewer gold piles. I have no opinion on what would be the most time efficient yet; I suspect p3 though.

I have a weird issue with my Diablo where the game often doesn't register my mouse movement/clicks, as such I control the whirling pretty bad and overall the playing could be improved slightly as a result. Loading times are pretty fine though even though I don't do windowed mode; I'll try that some in the future when I get closer to optimal with this guy.

I'll be trying Enigma with some different Amulets; I don't yet have an opinion on which is better, but the 300 GF you lose from Wealth hurts *a lot*, I know that much. The character is level 91 and hasn't been respecced for good skill point/stat point placement; this should help a bit once I finalize his equipment and such. I think I have a few wasted points in Find Item at the moment, for instance.

I'd really kinda like to fit some FCR somehow; especially after I'm used to horking with my 105FCR/CBF Berserker this guy's post combat part of the run is just super glacial. I'm not sure if it's feasible to do so in a good way though. CBF is also potentially welcome, and Cham'ing the CoT instead of a Lem seems to be pretty reasonable option.

Those are all my thoughts for now. This record will be destroyed once I get my old technique/better equipment/a better character/a better run. I'm trying to find some good stuff in the trade forum now, so hopefully he'll improve quickly

I'd like to chip in with my GF barb too. He's currently respeced into a level 95 runner ( for max chance on gambling amulet ), but this is what I used before..

I haven't actually calculated how much GF there is, but this gear lets me do p3 runs without any problem and gets about 400k per run ( and a run takes a minute on p3, max ). Some stuff can be improved, I suppose. I tried replacing HLW and LoH but it just cuts down killspeed too much. Don't know why ppl want teleport. Running into Durance 1 and out works fine for me. I don't use time travel equipment or e-bug. ( consider them cheese )

Well zaphod it's been like 90 minutes since the last run attempt was added to the table, no? It happened to be a new record, too.

I say go for it. Just remember that the 30 minutes includes everything, including muling etc, from when you start the first run. And it can be nice to use a timing method that beeps after exactly 30 minutes so you know when to stop the last run.
