    Fishymancer questions, advice needed

    Hi guys,

My non-ladder Fishymancer (first necro build) is up to Lvl82 and I have a few questions as to where to go from here.

I have maxed SM,RS,CE. I have enough hard points in RM,Rev,Amp,BA and the usual 1pt wonders. Just wondering what to do with remaining skill points. I was tempted to either max Revive or Raise Mage but feel that I already have enough revvies available (24) and its a bit late to max RM which I think is an 'all or nothing' skill.

I was thinking of Bone Armour, just for a bit of security, but looking at the synergies it may be better to put them into bone wall. Any comments?

    My gear is as follows:

    Shako (um)
Enigma (low - need a better one)
    Chance guards
    Arach
Mahim oak (looking for a replacement here)
    Arm of King Leoric*
    Wartravellers
    Ravenfrost and Rare 10fcr ring
    Homunculus (pdiamond)

*I need to socket my AOKL. What do you suggest I put in here. As I am looking to use this Fishy to MF, I thought Ist or Ptopaz.

Any suggestions or comments are very welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi!

As far as I know, Fishymancers use Revives as well. Perhaps the guide will shed some light on this?
As for the gear: If you're wealthy enough, you might try to socket the Homunculus with an Um instead, and put a Ptopaz in the Shako (that last one is pretty standard).
I think your best bet for an amu is a rare or a crafted Necro amulet. I suppose you'd be looking for +Skills, Resistances, MF, FCR, in that order. Just my opinion, might be wrong here.
Ist or PTopaz in the Arm' seems fine, since you're going for MF. But perhaps it's a better idea to check your resistances in Hell, or any other problems your Necro might have, and socket the Arm' in such a way that it takes care of your problems - Ie. a Resist All Jewel if you're lacking resistances (pricey, though..).

    Hope this helps, take care.
    -Jack

    Re: Fishymancer questions, advice needed

    Thanks for the comments guys,

My enigma is made in a breast plate and only has a defense of 850 or so. I didn't make it myself but was given it by a friend who had traded up for better. I have the runes to make it myself, just need a decent 3 socket armour.

I'm not concerned about my resists, they are ok in hell so i'll go for the Ist in the AoKL.

Any advice on the skill points? Bone Armour seems to be the way to go but I am sure there are experienced nercos out there with a better take on the situation.

-if you want more protection from bone armor you should spend points into the syns because it pushes the absorb more than hard points in the skill itself....
-i always put 1 point into every curse on my summon necs ( fishy isnt really different ) which is especially good for UT
    - if u did all skillq's i wouldnt go for mages either, rather spend more into revives as theyre pretty cool
    -> all curses 1pnt
    -> revs max
->or push bone armor syns as high as you can

First of all, do not put a topaz in the wand unless you're melee. No mf from topaz in wands, so use ist. Or a mf or resist jewel.

If its not too late, throw some points into iron golem, made with a runeword with an aura. Non ladder they should be cheap

I recommend max RS, SM, CE, RSM, in that order.
Single points in Revive, Summon Resist, Lower Resist, and prereqs.
All remaining points in Amplify Damage.

Magi are definitely something to have mixed feelings about. Against the things you're already good against, they add virtually nothing, and sometimes even slow you down. However, they're very good against PIs, which are annoying even when Amp breaks the immunity (they're still at least 80% physical resistant). A strong PI pack can chew through your merc, who suddenly gets drastically reduced life leech and/or Life Tap, so having magi for redundency, coupled with Lower Resist, can quickly get a corpse, them boom! Merc-eating pack of monsters gone.

If you go IG you should go all the way. Max RS, SM, CE, GM, BG; you will only have skill points for Decrep in the curse department that way. IG should be Insight runeword, never anything else. However, I don't trust IG and hold Insight myself.
