if you had severl bodies with items, it will only ressurect one... but other than that, i only know a cam that kills you a lot of times, fill you'r inventory and the 25. time or something, your items wil pop from from the body.. did you die tons of times?
Were you wearing items with + to strength? If so, maybe you 'popped", but hey, im no expert. I recently experienced the "popping" bug for the first time, however i was extremely lucky there was someone else in the game that cleared the area where my body lay. I had to go back and forth through portals picking up a couple of pieces of items at a time. I then realised i didnt have enough strength to wear some items. Added some strength from unused stat points and all good from there. Hope you didnt lose too much!!
It happened to me recently too.
I ran into trouble in the underground temples of Kurast in Hell.
I died twice then gave up and did the save and exit.
When I came back, my corpse had just my armour. I lost ALL the rest of my equipped gear: weapons, shield, rings, gloves, belt etc, THE LOT!
I was not happy and seriously questioned the point of continuing with a game that you can't trust.
People will tell you that it is the Str/Dex glitch. That you were wearing gear that required strength or dex from other gear to equip. Your inventory was full, so that when the game tried to re-equip your corpse, in the wrong order, the stuff that needed the extra Str/Dex had nowhere to go so it was left on the ground.
Other people may tell you that if you die multiple times you only get back the corpse worth the most gold. Or they may tell you that if you die more than 16 times your corpse will simply pop its items off and you will lose them.
However, perhaps there is also a rare server glitch that simply stuffs up the database. If you died during a connection interruption and it was the first time, all your gear should be on your corpse.
In my case, although I did need strength from an item to equip my armour yet surely all the other stuff should have come back... unless I had picked up my corpse just as I died, thus leaving just the armour on the first corpse. Since armour is worth more than everything else, this was what I got back. This could be what happened although I thought at the time that I hadn't quite got to my corpse.
If this is what happened to me it raises a couple of issues:
- Armour is over valued relative to other items. Should ordinary demonhide armour be worth 30,000 while a unique helm is worth 500? Of course not! It is yet another example of the unbalanced confused approach to items in D2.
- Corpses should be evaluated some other way to establish which is the most important, or perhaps just restore them all!
- Corpses that are conditional on the order in which the items are equipped should be restored as they were, the order should be irrelevant.
