Thumbs down So frustrated - elemental tree

I think it wasn't cool of Blizzard to make Armageddon the only elemental skills that can be cast in shapeshifted form. Doing so has thrown away a couple of build ideas that would have been very cool and possibly more effective.

Some builds have capitalized on the sole Armagedoon/Shifting capability, like the Earth Shifter Druid. But Armageddon, despite the higher damage possible, is kind of a lousy skill compared with Fissure or Volcano. I would rather use those as a Werewolf or Werebear.

What could have been the idea behind it? Preventing overpowered builds? I doubt that would be the case--the hammerdin remains the stand-alone overpowered build in the whole game.

As for the wind side of the skill tree, I don't think those are viable with a shifting build to begin with, because they all pretty much require mutual syngery maxing for viability. So it's mostly a gripe with the fire skills. Anyway, it is a shame.

Balance I suppose. You wouldn't want to see a 10k Life Wolf running around throwing down Nados, would you? And at least we can synergize ctc items, making a psuedo caster Shape Shifter >.>.

I would have liked to cast Hurricane in Wereform, because like Geddon it has a long duration. And it would have been awesome if Armageddon would have been a synergy for Fireclaws and Vice Versa, so points in Armageddon wouldn't be wasted.

    Of course I would!

Then again, I'm strictly a PvM guy -- I avoid PvP like the plague. But from that angle, I can understand how it'd be absurd.

Well actually i have made something like that just for fun. It did pvm pretty well. I never maxed hurricane though cause it was a wolf druid and i got bored of it and started pumping Hurricane later on but it did well. Mabye you should try it. Only thing is constant shapeshifting to recast hurricane.

Im guessing something like this would work?:
    Werewolf 1
    Lycanthropy 20
    Fury 20
    Cyclone Armor 20
    Hurricane 20
    rest hurricane synergies?
and an earthshifter would go nice

They wanted the wereforms to be ferocious beasts. NOt wise strategic casters. I guess they allowed them to cast 'geddon because it's a spell of destruction and chaos

Well,I would say that the animation isn't that destructive. I mean, it's not something you say "bam!" to when it hits the enemy

you could put Rift in a thresher and fully synergize the tornadoes it spits out while you're in wolf/bear form, no?

Re: So frustrated - elemental tree

Yes you can do that. Combine it with a Kodiak build so you have enough points for the wind skills:
    20 Lycan
1 WW, WB, Maul, Hunger, Shockwave
    2 prerequisites
    Rest in Cyclone, Hurricane, ...
