It's stupid to be proud of an accomplishment in an 8 year old computer game, but I'm proud anyway. I soloed all the way through to Guardianship using my Blade Fury assassin. I didn't set out to do this, but the Anti-TPPK guide scared me off from even entering a public Hell Mode game until I could somehow scrape together an insane amount of cold resist.
For weapons, I used a pair of Jade Talon claws. In my right hand, I used an ethereal 'Talon socked with a Nef rune. The knockback effect allowed me to get away with not putting too many points in kicks and concentrate on defensive skills.
On weapon switch, I used a Malice runeword Greater Talon. This is great for chipping away at the armor of level boss monsters, and doing Open Wounds damage. You'd be surprised at how well this worked against Meph. In the other hand I used a claw with +3 Death Sentry, so that I didn't have to spend any skill points at all on traps except for Blade Fury and its prereqs.
Up until Act 5 I used crafted Blood Gloves as my only source of Crushing Blow. Once I was able to trade for some Soul Drainers I put on Goblin Toes, since I wasn't able to get my hands on Gore Riders.
I didn't want to put more than 10 or so points in Claw Mastery, so as I progressed Attack Rating became a problem (except when using the Malice claws). I solved this by getting rid of the Holy Freeze merc and hiring a Blessed Aim merc. With the knockback effect from my claws, nothing could get near me anyway. So I didn't need freeze for crowd control. I gave him a Shael'd Bonehew and a Twitchthrow for the IAS.
For armor, I used a "Peace" runeword Scarab Husk. I was hoping to get something better, but it WAS fun to have a Valk that disappeared/reappeared every few seconds. I'm not sure how "+2 Critical Strike" works with Blade Fury, but it can't hurt.
The Hellforge gave me an Ist rune, which I traded for a Raven Frost and a Hellfire torch. Also, a Dwarf Star dropped in the Bloody Foothills, so with my Blackhorns Face mask I had Cold, Fire, and Lightning absorb on top of my 75% resists from the dual Jade Talons.
I maxed out Fade and got Weapon Block and Shadow Master to decent levels. Now I'm on the way to maxing out Venom. I also put 1 point in Cloak of Shadows and Mindblast. At first I planned to put a lot of points into Dragon Tail, but I gave up after about 5 points when I realized I was hardly ever using it. Why kick when I can just use Blade Fury to knock them back?
The only types of monsters that give this character a little trouble are dual physical/poison immunes. Then all I need to do is rely on the Death Sentry from my claws, which feels a little bit like cheating.
