Anime heaven, help me out! Please? ;)

Hey

I need some new animes, badly. I made a thread a few months back asking, pretty much the same thing and now i'm back and i need more

I been thinking about an anime I saw when I was living in Singapore and I bloody remember what it was...It was based on magic, evil, good and what I recall, a tournament with loads of different characters and it was by far the best anime i had ever seen! Any idea's what it was?:grin:

Also, any idea's for some new gory, fighting, blood, sadistic, dark anime's I might enjoy? (Rate them out of 10 if ya can) I know many will say elfen lied and yes I have seen it and it's amazing!

Also, any other people who like the same type of anime's can use this thread to look for new anime's aswell

Well, I could send you another huge list of stuff, or post it here.
As for animes that are like Elfen Lied, I'm not huge on that whole genre, as I'm more of a comedy/slice of life guy, but I have seen my fair share of action type animes.

Black Lagoon, both the first and second seasons are key. It's a terrifice anime, and definitely one of my top ones to recommend to people who enjoy they kind of anime you do.
Uh... Darker than Black is solid. Takes a while to really get into it in my opinion, but it's really cool.
Ooo, Baccano is excellent. A really great anime to watch, really dark, pretty damn bloody and gory.
The Gunslinger Girl series is actually really cool, not insane amounts of action, but the story is excellent, and it's a great anime to watch.
I guess obligatory mention of dark/action animes like Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, uh... Ghost in the Shell.
Oh man, David would murder me if I forgot to mention Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Incredibly bloody, gory, and a dark anime. Both the seasons are amazing, though I do find the first season a lot more sadistic than the second one.

Like I said, I'm not huge into the crazy action type of anime, though I do enjoy them once in a while when they're really good. When you want something along the lines of comedy, slice of life, drama and what not, I can mention a lot more stuff.

Oh, and something else that's bloody and gory. School Days.

I have watched some of those, such as, Death note, Amazing anime but slightly dim around mid series but got really good again If you like a bit of drama in your anime's try Air if you have not done so already.

Im very suprised to not see the following anime in anyones list :

D.gray-man!

Pretty lenghtly serie, not finished yet: Great quality overall. Reasonably darkish, don't expect Vampire Hunter D stuff, but still a very serious overall tone

side note:

Another great and pretty length anime, but certainly not for everyone tastes is Ginga Densetsu Eyu. Legend of the Galactic heroes. Absolutely crap graphics since it's pretty old and an unusual backround/story (space military Prussian vs Allies kind of stuff), Great serie.

Yeah, if you notice most of the anime on my list isn't that hardcore dark-type anime. Unless it's really good and people constantly bugger me to go watch it, I usually only read the synopsis on ANN and leave it at that.
I have had several people tell me to watch D.gray-man and Claymore though.
Not sure why, but every time someone says Claymore I think of Saber from Fate/Stay Night.
