kinda off topic, but speaking of aged muscle guys, have you seen arnold (ok, im going to try to spell this) schwarzinigar with out a shirt lately? its scary, scare you for life type of thing.
I have no negative feelings about the Witch doctor really. His role of using Zombies fits since in Haiti (I think) there were incidents of witch doctors manipulating people using puffer fish poison and forcing them to do work (which are considered slave zombeis).
In Boma Congo the tribes used the Nkisi Nkonde, a nail figurine to communicate with the dead. Not really in an evil sense, but for people to communicate with their dead loved ones. Witch Doctors used these Nail figurines for evil, communicating with demons. Perhaps this could be an item for the Witch Doctor class![]()
I really like the Witch Doctor. He's something new, and he fills our need for a terrifying protaganist character to take on the forces of hell.
Keep in mind that before D2, the Necromancer was anything but generic. Blizzard took a risk in creating him. Now he's a staple of every RPG game imagineable.
If Blizzard makes a successful sequel that builds on the successes of the previous games, I have no doubt that the Witch Doctor will become a much more common fantasy archetype.
