This is completely OT, but I would consider Radament an 'it'. Keep in mind he is put together by body parts of both sexes. Plus I'm pretty sure that Atma refers to Radament as an it when she says something like, "kill it and I will be grateful".

I'm pretty sure Atma was referring to the race, not sex. Eg. Vampires, they can be boys or girls, and it is perfectly respectable to refer individual vampire as "he" or "she" according by the sex. However, you may also address by their race as "it" (especially by someone who dislike vampires), because he/she is not human.

By the way, even you consider "it", you still used the term "he" in your reply.

@Merlin The Wizzard: craft is depending on the char level. So it usually pays to craft in late stage of games. PGem is also depending on luck. My tourny char is till in A2 normal, so far I only found one gem shrine, I already had two flawless (and they are not topaz, I had other plan). If I had better luck on the gem shrine, I would have at least 1 or 2 PG already.

There is a hard cap at 3 sockets for items dropped in Normal. To get 4 sockets that early, you have to make the sockets yourself (recipe or Larzuk reward).

Re: A Guide to Untwinked, single-pass HC play, V0.2

    Great guide!
I just found this (and the previous version by jiansonz) and I decided to restart my current tournament, keeping these things in mind (although I already did some of it).
I just finished clearing Stony field, I already have 100% MF on Merc kills (I was a bit lucky with the Chipped Topaz) and it is much easier to kill everything with the Merc than I thought.

    A small comment :
Charsi was selling me a 2-socket helm at lvl 5. I saw this by chance, maybe even earlier.
This guide seems to claim the minimal level is 6.

And now a bigger question :
What do you think of rushing act 2 once you are strong enough to take Andariel. For example, I could probably run through the rest of Act 1, killing no monsters, clear Cata level 4 (or just Andariel), then shop for some MF boots and gloves in Act 2, as well as get the Cube much earlier.

Let's assume that this is ok in a given tournament. Does the availability of items in shop depend on clvl?
You lose probably just a little bit of MF on andariel but you get an easy gain of about 30% MF (15 each for gloves and boots, 10->25) on the rest of Act 1 plus you can also get the cube much earlier.

Rushing to get the cube or to shop in act 2 could indeed work out well.

The ilvl of shopped items is clvl+5, but there is a cap in Act II at ilvl 20. So already at level 15, you have opened up all possible sales items (and on a /p8 full clear, you are level 15 after Tristram).

Hmm, Helms are indeed qlvl 11, so they should not be availale before level 6. The shopping calcualtor says Normal Charsi does not sell any Helms at all, and I can´t remember seeing any in her shop. Are you sure it was not a 2s Cap or Skull Cap?

Indeed, I have been able to get 25MF boots and gloves at lvl 15. Very useful! I think this is the optimal strategy, if allowed.

Yes it was a Skull Cap. I meant Helm in the sense of general "Headgear". I should have been careful. My point was simply that the guide seems to implicitly claim that no headgear with 2 sockets is available before lvl 6, which doesn't seem to be true. If you get a very early Chipped topaz (like I did), it's nice to go get a socketable helmet as early as possible.

Mruos, my attempts to contact you by PM and email failed. Here is the answer to your question on how 3 chippies can be used to create a cruel weapon.

3 Chipped Gems + 1 Magic Weapon = Socketed Magic Weapon
The items get rerolled at ilvl 25. When qlvl > ilvl, the qlvl is used for generating affixes. For those items I mentioned, one of the possible prefixes on the reroll is "Cruel".

Ah, the old cruel weapon search =). I rolled a cruel mat bow in 1.08 (iirc? a LONG LONG time ago) on bnet, and got a whopping perfect 300%. No suffix, but I did get two sockets, which put the price-range of that bow at pretty much anything I wanted (since cruel mats were THE dueling bows).

Random, off the wall question: For high mana consumption melee builds, like ww barb, would a battle staff insight be a viable choice? The damage is much lower than bonesnap, steeldriver, or a rare great maul, but there would be no mana problems, the damage range is tight, the %ed is big (so +damage from charms etc. goes a long way), and it comes with a 16-46% chance to do double damage. There's also ~100 elemental damage and some mf. Anybody tried this? Or is the damage just too damn low.

Lessons Learned from HC not-very twinked Werewolf Druid:

If you're just starting out maybe build an MF Barb, easy-mode Necro or MF Sorc instead.
Know your hotkeys and how some skills on the right mousebutton enables you to just run around and automatically attack anything you come into contact with (Feral Rage for werewolves, Fury{?} for Fury Barbs).
Keep your best Topaz (Flawless, preferably) in your Horadric Cube for when you see a Gem Shrine.
You will repeatedly smack yourself in the head if you don't get a ton of Poison Resist gear/charms for Act III.
Make a list of what gear you want how many sockets on.
Write down the gear set up you just had on your character and your merc before you switched it all out to run a boss or go zero-MF to find socketed items.
Gamble Pikes til you get something with Life Leech for your Defensive Merc

    Know your curses: http://www.chrisclarke.co.uk/D2stuff...nce/curses.htm
    Know your auras:
