start problems

i have a "new" computer with windows xp media center edition on it and i just bought diablo2, and installed it today. when i start it i get bluescreen and the computer resettes himself. i have tried all sorts of "fixes" from lots of forums, me and my bud was gonna play it today, but my wont start, have reinstalled it and repatched it also.

please help me!

Are you talking about D2 or D2 LoD (expansion pack)?

Have you tried the video test in the directory; changing it to 2d mode?

its d2 not lod.
and yes i have,

the bluescreen was this : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

try reinstalling it, and make sure your logged in as an administrator
d2 has problems with limited accounts

i have tried that. its crazy, the game is apperantly too old :/

No DII works fine in WinXP, and Vista as well so it's not too old. My guess would be a video driver issue. What type of video driver do you have? Make sure all your drivers to all your devices/hardware are as updated as possible, and I'd also suggest running a Scandisk scan.

i got ati hd 2600 xt with the latest drivers and i have tried all sorts of "fixes" and it seems to not work.
