A 3D top-down view is just as good as good ol' isomeric view, but is much more Diablo-like. IMHO.
Figure out how to make it so online chars can be played offline and still not have hacks... oh wait... that can't be done. *sighs*
I just wish I could play when I don't have an internet connection (yet not be stuck in the open realm)
These days Blizzard is facing many many good concurrents. It is not like back in 2000 when online RPG did not existed and they were almost alone in the market. Now they have to relay on their fans and I hope they wont disappoint us.
As for visual style of game definitely it will be 3D oriented and with all negative aspects with it. If you still doubt look for example Starcraft II.
I just hope it will not become another first player shooter style game like Helgate London (big deception for me) or Gears Of War or Lost Planet. We have so many of them already.
Otherwise can some one tell me if there is any difference between Diablo (or Baal) and Aliens when you look from 3D graphical point of view?
I hope they have Matt Uelman do the soundtrack.
I hope they keep the atmosphere dark and bleak.
I hope there's no elves.
ya elves = lame.
I hope eather its a top down veiw, I dont want it to be a wow clone, and if they do change the view, do it in a first person view only. 3rd person views are for noob gammers only. I dont mind it if they let you change the color of your items. But dont change the pics for the items so you cant tell what people are using. I do want the same classes. I do want a more mmorpg feel to it. I do not want hacks, Ill keep dreaming of a game thats hack free, wait thats xbox360,ps3, and wii... I want it on xbox360.
Increased stash size! And being able to have a community stash(between all of your characters) so you won't ever have to mule ever again.
According to the wikipedia page, Uelman left Blizz:

As for "dark and bleak", who knows if the game even exists, but it is hard not to notice that the general trend seems to be towards family-friendly fare and a global audience.

I don't know if anything particularly gloomy has ever come out of Orange County.
I also think it would be a good idea to be able to trade in a chat channel instead of making a game to make the trade.. I'm sure they have the tech to handle that now.
I like the color customization idea. A lot of people seem to care how their characters look. There are probably other good ideas in this category also.
One of the things I want most is higher resolution. 800x600 just doesn't look good these days. Especially when I am used to 1920x1200 on my laptop. Higher resolution w/ better, more detailed graphics, even w/ the current 2D, isometric view would look awesome.
As a compromise, D3 could allow us to choose between different types of views.
E.g., 2D or 3D. Overhead or POV. Etc.
I feel ambivalent about the 8-player game restriction in D2. It can be nice because you're focused on just up to 7 other players. It's not so good because it doesn't feel like there's one whole D2 universe. I think D3 should find a balance between these two things.
