Unidentified objects?

Hello guys, I am a newbie and have just picked up a couple of wepons that have the words 'unidentifieable' underneath. Every time I try to slot them into the weapons slot I am told that I cannot use it yet. What do I have to do to be able to use them?

They need to be identified. Find or buy Scrolls of Identify and use them on the items you found.

Or rescue Cain and let him identify them for free for you.

Btw, I really wonder what's this game feature is made for. I mean, how many time did everyone of use spend to identify each item dropping ? I think they should have made some sort of auto-id as soon as Cain is freed... :rolleyes:

I think it's more a hangover from Diablo I. Back then you needed to use either an ID scroll or pay 100 gold to have Cain do it. I think they decided to leave the feature into Diablo II, but didn't really think ahead all that much in the process.
