Guardian Turgon holy knight of Westmarch
First of all I want to thank OldSoldier and roninDOG for hosting the very interesting “Knights of Westmarch Paladin Tournament”.

A paladin tournament with single pass, untwinked and individual restrictions.
Turgon is a Templar (FoH) with the following restrictions:
- No equipment shopping or gambling. You can buy potions and scrolls, but nothing else, and you can't sell anything.
- No buying scrolls, either ID or TP. Manage those Town Portals wisely. A purist would not even buy tomes, relying instead on finding them, but buying one each is OK.
So basically an untwinked “use what you find” character.

Mercenary: holy freeze desert mercenary (INSIGHT or “Hone Sundan” against Baal)
Items: SPIRIT sword + SPIRIT shield + Harlequin Crest + PDR stuff
Play observation:
This is a solid character. Not a cookie cutter, but versatile and flexible enough to solo Hell as long as you use a holy freeze merc.
- Is this character a good SC character? NO! This character will bore you to death! Not as boring as the plain vanilla necro summoner, but close to.
- Is this character a good twinked HC character? NO! Same as SC.
- Is this character a good untwinked HC character? Yup! A solid choice, maybe a little boring, but save and very cheap. Comparable to a windy druid (OK maybe the paladin has a slower kill-factor)
The only tricky part was Hell “Brem Sparkfist” (LI + holy freeze + cursed), a hell moonlord boss pack (I used a teleport amulet in both cases to bypass them) and hell ancients. It took me 12 rolls until I had ancients without a LI mod. But even then there was a lot of screaming and running around in circles. Not a suitable behaviour for a paladin :grin:, but it did the trick and after running ~ 15 times around the summit I was finally able to separate them. Afterward it was quite easy. Hell Baal took a while due to a lot of clones and tentacles distracting my merc.

Congrats on the Guardian, but where are the readouts? I want to see how you get +50 Vita from items! [See edit :wink3:] That's some nice FoH damage too!
Were the runewords made up from mostly Act 5 rune reward runes, or did you get some lucky finds elsewhere as well?

Edit: Do they? Heh, they do too. I thought that was energy (thinking of the +mana. :grinFunny how I never look at the Vit on em. Only FCR.

Congratulations on a very nice char and a pretty speedy guardian.
I don't know how you seem to be having such an easy time in hell. I'm already having close calls in NM. Maybe it's a difference in restrictions?
I'd like to see the other items you're wearing as well. Now you just post a few nice things, but let us hanging at the interesting stuff.
At least now we've got a score to aim for. Now go and make a more difficult char you wuss:wink3:.
as demanded the rest of my items. As you can see I used every emerald and ORT/RAL/TAL to craft safety items. And trust me, I burned a lot of them.

Congrats on the Guardian newco. That was one well played character. I made the mistake (twice) of going all blue/yellow only with my Templars. Not the third time baby! Well done and congrats.
Well done newco! Congrats on being the first Guardian from our tourney! Well played and awesome finds. Eth Hone Sudan and Harley are incredible for untwinked play, and enough runes for a Shael Shael Amn, and 2 Spirits....thats some good luck right there. On to the next one

I had insane luck on AMN runes with this char. 3 alone in NM act 2 fake tombs, which was a remakable series. 1 more in NM act 5. And 2 more in Hell. I was lucky that I had those SHAEL's left in my stash, because I already considered to delete them, to clear up room for full rejuvs (no need for IAS on a caster :grin. But even if an eth "Hone Sudan" is nice to look at, it dropped near endgame form the unique Yeti guarding Anja and was only used against Baal. And due to the tendency of my merc to ignore Baal and to attack the tentacles instead of Baal, I switched back to INSIGHT because of "mana-issues".
