Re: PvM Gunslinger - Physical Bow/Lightning Java Hybrid

looking for some ias breakpoint help. judging from the ias calculator, http://diablo3.ingame.de/tips/calcs/...p?lang=english, if i have a lvl 14 fanaticism faith merc, all i need is an additional 30% ias for the final strafe and multishot breakpoint when i'm using windforce (WF has built in 20%ias mod)?

You'll need a total of 95% IAS for fastest multi, a shaeled Wf can provide 40% thereof.

Re: PvM Gunslinger - Physical Bow/Lightning Java Hybrid

Cool guide. Especially the ASCII art.

I think I'll be making a Gunslinger with Poison Java skills instead of the standard Lightning Java skills.

    Probably something like:

    Kira's Guardian
    "Fortitude"
WWS (I have Windforce but its use is getting redundant...)
    Eth. Titan's Revenge/Head Hunter's Glory
    Razor Tail
    War Traveler
    BKWB
    Rare Ring

I might deviate from +2/20 and take TO's Claws instead... dunno, will have to see how the IAS works out later tonight. Same goes for Highlord's, I think I might use a crafted/rare amulet. Unless I really need the IAS. This set-up should give perfect resistances in Hell.

Any advice for me on what to do with the remaining skill points? The poison tree maxes out with 40 points.

Re: PvM Gunslinger - Physical Bow/Lightning Java Hybrid

The poison skills will obviously kill far slower in hell then the lightning ones, but I guess it'll still be viable. I've got to little experience personally to say for sure how it'll turn out though.

If you're just aiming to use strafe for your bowside (your post kinda sounds like that would be the case), then ias is of minor importance and you can indeed go full out on +skills from amulet.

I'm no expert on trang vs other gloves but iirc you need to reach really high levels of plague before the bonus of trangs can compete with +2 java skill gloves. Using a setup with around +10 or +11 skills it looks like they'll be pretty similar and with a coupple facets in the shield the +2 java skill gloves should still have the advantage.

For the extra skillpoints you can look into increasing penetrate and valkyrie. As I assume you'll not use a merc faith your ar could use the boost, and a valk will come in handy to tank the physical immunes while the poison does its magic.

Thanks for the feedback! I was actually thinking of maybe splitting a bit into MS too... mmm. Could I possibly get a link to your own? It would help with ideas.

    [edit]
Also, I would like to mention once again that your ACSII art makes this quite the godly guide. I am mildy disappointed you did not include Javelin pics.

A link to my own gunslinger in the showoff thread can be found in the references at the end of the guide:

I will make the javelin pic at some point, I've just failed to be satisfied with the ones I've drawn so far. Got to be fancy looking enough ...

Re: PvM Gunslinger - Physical Bow/Lightning Java Hybrid

I made a pact with myself that when I'd come back to D2 after a few months off again, I'd revisit this.

I skipped ahead and saw your new setup (should say current). Absolutly loving this.

Was a fast put together but I've copied the gear to a T, minus the imperfections, and never thought I could love enigma on an amazon. This is working fantasticly. I'm lacking the resist charms, which are essential I feel for the setup as running in hell with about 10/-20/49/-38 resists are a bit rough with only ~ 700 life.

Came back into the game, slightly bored of the Pure Bowa I have had since season start and threw myself into this, and am just having a blast.

I am slightly having doubts about the 20/20 shield and the necessity of that much +/- on there. Have the idea about dropping a majority of the res/life charms, getting java lifers on which are easier to accumulate, and using a sanctuary shield for the res make up. I only ask because I mirrored your current setup to test that playstyle.

edit : Scratch that, completely forgot that I would be negating the bowside which is out in battle just as much, and dropping that much resistance could be deadly.. Guess I didnt think that out at all

Re: PvM Gunslinger - Physical Bow/Lightning Java Hybrid

True that one could use a shield for res, but against the enemies where it matters (souls, since they fire past your valk) it'll be bothersome not be able to have the bow out

The 20/20 shield + rescharms will give higher java damage output then a resshield + java skillers setup anyway I belive.

One option is of course to use spirit instead of the 20/20, but I tele with the bow out all the time so for me it'd not be worth it I think.

This I agree on. And just to point out to AnimageCGF(and others): the real power lays in the -20%, not in the +20%.

KremBanan is actually an anti-gentleman. He repels chivalry like an opposing polarity.

i'll vouche that as well. dropping D is like swatting a fly with a bit of -res.
