Happening realm wide. I had three friends on, all in different games, and we all got disconnected at the same time.

Re: "Your Connection Has Been Interrupted"

I was muling at about 4:30 p.m. Eastern North American time today (2 computers) and got disconnected, lost 2 weeks worth of muled gems.

Luckily, it looks like it rolled back a few Hel runes that I had dropped on the ground just prior to the stupid server crash.

About 5 minutes later, daughter and wife got arbitrarily dumped from a questing game with no warning whatsoever. (One second, ping is ~100 or so. Next second, everything starts doing the moon walk, S & E... can't, session totally hung.)

Really, this behavior on the part of Blizzard is ridiculous. I know that people aren't directly paying to play on-line Diablo, but there's no reasonable excuse for the kinds of random server instability that we have all been encountering lately.

If a server is stressed - something that Blizzard must surely be able to see at their end - it would be a simple matter to add some kind of a warning message to the client end of the session so that players can take appropriate precautions and (for example) refrain from muling, doing dangerous boss quests, and so on.

Well, don't get your hopes up. After all, it took them 3+ years to (sort of) get rid of the notorious TPPK hack. Right now, they're spending all their time on a Webpage that congratulates themselves of the fact that D2 has been around for ten years. Which proves, I suppose, that players like us are either awfully patient, or awfully dumb, or both.

    Cheers

    Mr. Bill

I've noticed that they tend to ban multiple connections from one IP address. (Even if you have two legitimate copies). That might be your case.

Re: "Your Connection Has Been Interrupted"

I really felt sick when I found this thread saying that a solution hasn't been given to this issue in years. I have been a fan of Diablo since 98', when I discovered the game i was only 15 years old. Now Im 26 and I wanted to try for the first time how to play online. At first it was a lot of fun, but then out of the blue, I started getting all sort of weird messages that kept kicking me out of the game I was playing, The " your CD key is currently in use by...ME!" and the "your connection has been interrupted" after 5 minutes in EVERY game I try to join. Im new to this, this is my first time posting in this blog, and I dont know about cheats or any of the things I keep reading about in the posts, I dont even understand most of them. But of course Im being punished regardless, and I feel very disappointed, because I'm a big supporter of Blizzard's work, or at least..I was. So my question now is, Should I give up?

Re: "Your Connection Has Been Interrupted"

I'm not on hardcore but my experience in any softcore single player game is that if I ever get the message "you connection has been interrupted", I can log back in straight away, but when I log back in straight away and attempt to re-join my passworded game that has been open for more than 5 mins, I get a "game does not exist" error, every time.

This points the finger at server crashes/server game dumps for sure.

although I cannot varify that this occurs on multiplayer games as I can never remember the name of the baal-run I just joined when this has happened in multiplayer games.

Your problems are pretty easily curable.

    They look like symptoms of:
    - rejoining games too quickly (when you get to the channel, count to 15 before entering another game)
    - lagging out or crashing --> this causes the "your CD key is in use by you" -- and you have to wait 5-10 minutes for your connection to terminate before you'll be able to get back in

What version of Windows (?) are you using? - stay away from Vista

Are you running/downloading torrents? - kill them

Is your firewall on - windows or otherwise? - kill it

Is your CD in the drive? -- do a FULL install so all your files are on the hard drive and you don't need the CD anymore

Defragment your harddrive; it's super ultra mega rare, but there is a microscopic possibility that the portion of your drive reserved for your character file (getting saved every x minutes) is corrupt... defragmenting will take care of this by marking it as a bad sector or whatever.

Are you on a wireless or wired connection? If you're on wireless, be on wired. If you're on wired, make sure your router/modem isn't doing anything funky - hard-reset it and leave it at default settings.

...I know it's a little late, but I tried. Good luck!

...also, Europe sucks, go go US East!
