Now, assuming that men (and police officers) are not the only ones capable of using a gun to defend themselves (I know, I know- just bear with me here), how would a gun help? Well, I would think that's rather obvious. Who cares if the manager isn't home if his fellow family members also know how to defend themselves with a gun? Who cares if the husband isn't home if the wife and kid also know how to defend themselves, realizing that they shouldn't bet their lives on their husband/dad always being around to protect them any more than they should bet their lives on the police always arriving in time to stop a crime?
