5 socket ones are good to make Honor in, Honor runes are cheap enough to be expendable. 6 socket ones, not so very useful. Jewels are expensive, and the guys "crazy" enough to spend them on eth items would go for superior ones.
And ofc as already mentioned, they make excellent imbues.

I figured a tri-res belt would be pretty good in LLD. Thoughts?
My understanding is you need a lot more STR and possibly fhr to make it useful. The Death's Set is pretty hard to beat on lvl <=18
True, while the belt is nice. One must remember that there aren't many level <18 elemental chars. The most common one being Ice Blast versus which cannot be frozen is more important. The other relatively common one is fissure druid, but your belt doesn't offer fire resistance. For the few poison chars you might encounter Death gloves should cover your needs, and then you might aswell use the belt aswell...
