Hi well to start off im new to HCL softcore just isnt doing what it used to do for me back when it first came out, now im tryin to challenge myself and go HC. Was wondering if you nice folks could give me some HC channels or if you have anything that would inlighten me that would be much appreciated!
Looking forward to playing with you guys some time!
HybridTHC
Thx again guys see you on the battlefield.
Here's the list of Ladder East players
Feel free to stop in at channel op xbananax to meet some people and find a game. If you see myself (*khlavkhalash), agentmarth (*shinmeiryuu) or prion, you can ask them for some free stuff. We keep mules full of starter gear:
'dem mules
heres a hint: play useast. i'm from california, but i perfer to play on a server that has more than ten people. you may as well start now since you're essentially gearless. useast has literally 2-3 times the players, judging by # of users on d2jsp
Also many of the East players play late hours thus actually fitting in well with normal West hours.
BTW, if you are new to HC then you are new to DII!![]()
Stinger sayeth sooth! What was an "annoying inconvenience" in SC, becomes an "extinction level event" in HC. But I kinda think that no one really believes that until they've seen the deeds screen a time or two. Just don't give up after the first one (because it will happen).
But enough "doom and gloom".
I switched to HC a few months ago and never looked back. I get much more satisfaction from getting a single HC character through Hell, than I ever did with a whole account full of them in SC.
Welcome and good luck!
Expect death and learn from them! If you learn and adjust to each failure you will become a solid HC player quickly. If you simply dont pay that much attention you may find 10 deaths not teaching you squat!
The death that hurts the most is the first one that you slap on some "wanted item" that you saved or traded for, or found and built especially for it. It seems like everyone has one of those "And I just put on my kick arse new items" deaths.
Keep in mind, these arent just flukes, everyone has them, and you know why? Because they get lazy, stop thinking, start playing more carelessly because their build is stronger, kills quicker and they have a phase of Godliness...... Many get lucky and have that near death exp then adjust while others arent so luck! Either way, that is the death that will make you want to quit or consider it and dont let it do it to you.
I remember mine.....1.09 Zon, built untwinked, my main build, had 3 other lower lvl guys. Was like 60ish doing lvling runs in Act 5 Bloody Hills using my newly traded for Sheled Goldstrike that I got for liek 40 chips that I spent getting with my little Barb in Act 1. It was the second run, I hit the WP, lag, dead......Some dude used what was known as "Gold Hack" where they had a script that tossed hundreds of piles of 1 gold all around the WP which caused long enuff lag they could go to town, hostile, return, kill you and then the lag would end. Oh yes, I knew about the hack, knew where it was used the most and had not taken that WP but very seldom prior to getting my Goldstrike but I STILL took the damn WP! I stopped thinking!
i felt bad and considered quitting but while still thining of going back to SC I went to my little Sorc and started getting her going more and then she died, then went to my Pally, lvl 16 using Sigons set (otherwise saying NO VITA) and he died! Then I got irritated, took a break for a bit and came back to get on my really strong 31 Barb with a Bloodletter! Boy was he GODLY until he ran into a pack of Unique Dolls and i whirled (not knowing the consequences) and he died! That was it......back to 0 HC guys, 0 gear as I had 0 mules. Went back to SC the rest of the night, quit early because I was bored and got up the next day and went after it HARD with researching things about the game and trying to build more unkillable and it all took off from there, but I almost quit!
Read the FAQ! It's slightly dated, but almost all the general information is still very good.
put points in vit early, and try to keep strength down to what you need for gear and dex only for reqs or block (if you're not going for max block then no extra points there). Everything else should be in vit. This took me 3 sorcs to figure out.
No Energy investment on any build ever! Its too easy to get energy, its all wasted points later so learn to do it.
