This is how I levelled mine. Depends a lot on your personal preferences really.

skill point investing
Levels 1-23: points into prereqs and the rest saved.
24 - 29: one point into holy shock, building holy shield and holy shock every level using unspent skill points + point every level.
30 and up Max (in order) Holy shield to level 10, then FoH, finish holy shock, conviction then build holy bolt with the odd points into holy shield depending on what level you want holy shield at for end game.

early game strategy
1-18 Zeal w/ might
24-29 Zeal w/ Holy Shock
30 follow the guide...

Great guide! I've never made an elemental templa but will tonight. I have a level 87 pally with unused stats and unused skill points. Could you please consolidate the stats and skills for me like:
20 Conviction
20 FoH
20 Holy Bolt
2 Vengeance
2 Conversion
1 Sacrifice
1 Zeal
etc.?

I don't want to screw up this pvm pally and would like to use what works rather than "recreate the wheel"

I'm thinking of using this build for my "Thor" themed build. He'll wield the IK Maul, Gloves, Belt, & Boots for heavy elemental damage and run Conviction full time. He'll use Fist of the Heavens to smite his enemies from above as needed. Should be a fun time!

Ive got one of these on the USWest HC Ladder. Pretty fun and I'm not up to FoH yet (lvl 25)

clvl 31 and im not finding FOH that effective. really only any good vs undead, and the bolt itself doesnt even seem to do much damage. teh zeal side is bad too.. conviction isnt helping me any since i have very low elemental damage.

You have to give it a little time! At 31, you just put your first points into FoH and Conviction. It's not going to 1 hit KO everything. You also don't have access yet to any of the weapons w/ huge elemental damage.

Crescent moon or destruction will only lower resistance for the merc, not your own character.

I'm building a pala.. either a templar or a hammerdin. Does FoH take out bosses OK? (like diablo, baal, meph, etc)? I heard FoH is no good against the act bosses for some reason.. as for weapon I'll probably have to go with a 6 sock blade, I'm kind of poor. Got some runes and I should be able to make runewords and I recently found a unique zakarum shield.. For the blade, are you saying I should put P topaz in it?

And for handling lightning immunes, you would just use the holy bolt?
