Okay, I just saw a news story related to one of the current forum threads so I was trying to look it up.
The first link I found took me to a forum of weird news stories and one of them had one of those crazy cat avatars. The first thing I thought was "The Kitties Strike Back!", because this one was different. That tickled my funny bone.
So I scrolled down a bit further looking for this news story about a drunk driver when I came across another story that was accompanied by a photo... a photo that turned out to be another potential cat avatar/sig complete with added caption provided by the Hobart Mercury newspaper, though it's not in 13375p33k so it probably fails. That is a Copperhead snake wrapped around the cat's collar, Copperheads are one of Australia's many friendly killers.
Anyway, this all got me wondering, does anyone know how and when this cat craze started? Some of the avatars/sigs/photos I've seen are absolutely hilarious and I've seen them everywhere.
fark.com has played a huge part in the lolcat craze. Every saturday (caturday) they have an epic thread of lolcats. worth1000.com has also done a lot. I dont' know exactly where it started but there's no stopping it now.
No idea, but theres thousands of the damn pictures.
icanhascheezburger.com has pages upon pages of them.
Cats are awesome and always have been, it's just recently that the internets at large have gotten around to immortalizing them as memes.
They were funny, but now it's all repetitive.
Hey I've Always liked a little *****, even when it's a bit skunky.
