    Best Character?

What is the best character? Starting out untwinked, for keyfinding/uber attempting. I am starting out completely untwinked, thought I could trade my Barbs almost complete IK set for somethnig(missing armor). I dont really want a summonmancer, but I will use it as a last resort. Thanks to anyone willing to answer my questions.

Okay for key finders you would want a light sor, they are cheep to build and they are very stronge. For Uber running you want a smiiter which is slightly more costly but smiiters are THE best uber runners. Find some guides on here for the perfect builds etc....
I would say start a light sor as soon as you can because they are used alot for magic finding and key runs ;D
    Hopes this helps,
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

    BK,

    BK,
Actually building an uber smiter is probably cheaper than that light sorc, unless it's really budget. A smiter really doesn't require much to be successful for ubers, just a lot of crushing blow and lifetap. Lifetap is what keeps you alive and crushing blow is where you'll do most your damage.

An example of my smiter that did ubers is:
    the redeemer 1 soc(shael)
    duress balrog skin
    gface(15 ias)
    dracs
    crappy ring w/ 30fres, raven
    tgods
    gores
    highlords

Illestk, can your smiter find keys quickly? Also, whats your skill build, and can you direct me to a fairly decent guide?

I actually used a hammerdin, it wasn't the fastest way, but it got the job done. A smiter build is pretty straight forward

Max Smite, Holy Shield, Fanta, then defiance for more defence and the other "useful" skills. You'll have a lot of skills left over that you could put anywhere you'd like.

also this guide should be pretty useful, it focuses on a zealot using only 1pt of smite, but you could just go all smite if you don't mind having a character just for ubers.

I have a similar question but didn't want to start a new thread.

I haven't played D2 in quite a while but was thinking about starting it up again. I suppose the first character I need is a magic finder. You say a lightning sorc is best for this? Can you point to a guide?

Back in the day I had a bowazon as my MFer. It wasn't the best then, but I really really like zon's. Unfortunately I think they need really good gear to be effective right?

I also like Barbs, but with all the physical immune stuff in hell I'm not sure exactly what's the most effective build for a barb. Also, do they need good gear to survive? I suppose their shouts give them a nice buffer.

oh well, any help would be awesome. Thanks

I'd go with a sorc, they do the job the best imo.

    Meteorb:

    CL/FO:

    Blizz:

Meteorb is good for all around, as well as CL/FO, blizz is more nm/hell andy/meph based, but does it really well. Either of these 3 would work very well though.

Imo, Strafeazons, with lots of arrows, some time and patience, and knockback, can clear anything. I had 350% dmg to demon gloves, and only like 500dmg without that, and managed to clear hell pretty easily, if taking a while. Don't forget knockback though, and two 7% or so mana leeching rings will get you there and back pretty safely.
