I built a high level zon and found that the Decoy skill is great. It prevents you from running into bad guys at close range while walking through the world. Necros can use the same tactics with a clay golem or fire golem. I use clay golem only because fire golem uses lots more mana and I case the clay golem frequently.
I find that this skill is a lifesaver. I cast it ahead of me, into rooms before I enter, or at the edge of the screen. This draws the attention of all of the bad guys nearby so I see them ahead of time at long distance instead of almost running into theml. It saves a lot of wear and tear on my guy.
Thought I let you know about this tactic as it's life saver.
Ummmmmm, clay golem is used in almost every necromancer build. Its a very good tank and is very affective against act bosses as it slows them down.
If you want a necromancer skill that is a life saver....then i think Dim vision wins that hands down.
Most Necros do use their Golem in this manner. They make great scouts as they have a higher threat level than the Necro and his other minions.
Witch Doctor = top half of a Flayer Shaman = cracked-out, grass-wearing, jungle hobo = bobbing clown who vomits leaves a.k.a. Bobo the clowning village idiot. And people thought Necromancers had an image problem.
I'd have to agree with Morathi. If I had to choose between DV and CG, I think I'd take DV.
In any case, yes, CG is the best decoy, if for no other reason than his slowing effect on anything that attacks him.
