Hello,
Was wondering if a curse, specifically Life Tap counts as an attack on a target monster. The reason I ask is that I rely on the combined mf from my merc to get the most mf I can right now. The thing is my merc gets killed very easily unless I life tap the target. However it occurred to me that this probably counts as an attack, so if the merc kills the target then only my mf is counted. I have worked out with certain bosses like nightmare mephisto that I can life tap him and I and my merc will proceed to drain him down to a point where his life force is almost depleted at which point I back off and I allow my merc to whack at him and at this point the life tap is gone. Usually there is so little life force left in mephisto the merc kills him without the need for a potion.
Does this make sense? Thanks in advance for the help!
A curse isn't a killing blow. The thing that does the damage that kills the monster is the killing blow, your merc's mf is being counted.

As CG pointed out, a curse is not a killing blow, so life tap won't affect mf in any way.
The only case that a curse will cause a monster to get killed is Iron Maiden. If an IMed monster attacks your merc and kills itself, merc gets the kill and hence mf = (your mf + merc mf). If otherwise it attacks your necro and get killed, you get the kill and hence mf = your mf only.
xD
For future references, only direct damaging abilities that kill will count as your definition of an "attack".
Thanks everyone!
Hmm what about attract / Mind Blast / conversion and amp damage/thorns / Iron maiden monsters kill a monster or die attacking a monster. Does your MF work in that situation. And how about a 4 ptopaz Body armor Iron Golem. Does it add +96% mf if it delivers the killing blow.
If its a monster-kill-monster situation, the case would be mf=(your mf+monster mf) since monster mf = 0, mf = your mf.
Not sure about the 4ptopaz Iron Golem, but its an interesting question, I'd also like to know the answer.
I'm pretty sure MF works with Iron Golems.
after messing around with modmaker, it appears that mf on iron golem does work (had a 1k+mf iron golem kill hell baal) whereas I had 0mf on myself 2 unique drops. =D
How about those %MF that increases with level (such as ali ba ba)? is the %MF set when it is turned into an Iron Golem, or will the %MF still increase with character level as long as the Iron Golem does not get destroyed?
