    Patriarch DoubleU, the WindWolf

    Patriarch DoubleU

    lvl 84 Druid

    Introduction

Hybrid builds are allways interesting and need a lot of twinking and thinking. Two skilltrees which aren't often hybridized are the shapeshifting tree and the elemental tree of the Druid. The only a bit common build is the GeddonBear. My goal was to combine the wind skills with Fury. There are actually two types of WindWolves:

    -TwisterWolf
This wolf makes use of Windhammer and maxes Hurricane and Tornado to synergize Twister. He can also use Nature's Peace rings and/or the Rain Armor, for even more Twisters. If all these items are used the screen will be litterally flood with Twisters.
The Rain Armor has also ctc Cyclone amor which will also be synergized and will absorb 804 elemental damage.
These twisters do fully synergized 390-415 damage and also stun the enemy for a 10 frame period.
Skill layout will be like this:
    -20 Fury
    -20 Lycan
    -20 Tornado
    -20 Hurricane
    -20 Oak
    Finished at lvl95
This is without OPSW's in summontree

    -TornadoWolf
The TornadoWolf makes use of Stormlash and Maxes Cyclone Armor, Hurricane and Twister to synergize Tornado. This fully synergized Tornado will do 1470 - 1596 damage. This wolf will also have a Hurricane with 50 second duration and a powerfull Cyclone armor depending on + skills.
    Skill layout is:
    -20 Fury
    -20 Lycan
    -20 Cyclone Armor
    -20 Twister
    -20 Hurricane
    Finished at lvl 94
This is without OPSW's in summontree

I think both builds are very interesting and it was a hard choice between them. Finally I decided to go for the TornadoWolf, since this wolf might also be able to do good in PvP, while the TwisterWolf is purely PvM I think. But now I think about it, a Twisterwolf might just be as good (or bad) for pvp and maybe more fun. It will at least have lots of life with the oak and no block.

-Charms are mostly Resist, ar and a lot of FRW.

-For PvP, I would switch the gloves for Bloodfists for a 86% FHR (including one 12fhr GC)

-On switch I have HotO + Spirit for Prebuffing of Hurricane, Cyclone Armor and WereWolf. For PvP, I might also use Mara's + Arachnid + Valor +BK ring for more prebuffing.

-I know it would make more sense to have a PDia in the shield and the jewel in the Jalal's, but it just is how it is.

-I'm thinking about changing the Ravenfrost for a rare ring.

    Stats (without merc aura)

    Damage:
The Damage output of Fury is about 100-3k at 9/5 fpa
Tornado damage (20% at striking): 1281-1391 (1491-1619 at lvl 94)
    Hurricane Damage: 589-638 (855-927 at lvl94)

    Other stats:
Cyclone Armor without PvP prebuff: 1115 (1362 at lvl94)
    Resist: 75,75,75,61
    Defense: 2500
    Life: 2440
    15% lvl10 static on striking
    46% Deadly Strike
    48% Crushing Blow
    35%/10% Open Wounds
    59%/89% FHR
    108% FRW

    FuryAR: 8717
    Block: 24%
    148 Stat Points Remaining

I don't like blocking with a PvM Furywolf, that's why I haven't put those points in Dex yet, they will raise Block to 75 and also raise AR some.

    Background Info

Lvling up this char was pretty simple, the first points went into Lycan and Fury, Twinking this guy with: Goreshovel, Steeldriver and Buriza from lvl41 to 82.
After Fury was maxed I concentrated at getting as much as possible use out of Cyclone armor by putting points in Cyclone armor and Hurricane, after Cyclone Armor was maxed I putted points in Twister and Hurricane, making sure Hurricane has it's max damage potential.
Now Hurricane is also maxed and I will need 10 more lvl's to max out twister.

Nice things of a Tornadowolf compared to a common Furywolf:
-Cyclone armor is offcourse very nice.
I made one funny mistake in the WSK: I was shot by a Soul and didn't see my life going down any. Then I was shot again and again no life lost. Their damage is probably something like 1-xxx damage and I had 3 lightning absorb at Stormlash, but still I thought it was strange. Another shot and again I wasn't hurt. I opened my itemwindow and started looking for items with MDR or more light absorb but couldn't find them. Before I realised it was the Cyclone armor, my armor was broken and I was shot by tens of souls lieing horizontal at the ground.
-Hurricane, it slows down monsters and also deals some ranged damage, which combined with the Static and the Tornado's hurts monsters a lot while I'm furying other monsters.
-The CTC tornado being ctc at striking. This means a tornade will spam 1 of each 5 strikes, even if my strike is blocked or defended, so I do spam out a Tornado averagely each 29 frames.
These Tornado's do not only hit the moster you are attacking, but also monsters behind it. For example the static+tornado's kills some of the skellies at the 2nd wave, while I fury the greater mummies.
-During Baalruns you have something to do between waves: switch weapon, morph, cast hurricane, cast armor, morph back, switch weapons.
-You are dealing four types of damage:
    *Physical: Tornado and Fury
*Lightning: Static and lightning damage at Stormlash and Stormshield
    *Cold: From Ravenfrost and Hurricane
    *Open Wounds
-The best thing of the TornadoWolf is the looks, here are 2 screenies in which you see the: Cyclone armor, feral rage bulb, Hurricane, and Tornado's:
    Screenie1
    Screenie2

Bad things compared to normal FuryWolf
    -Lower AR and life
-The castdelay at Hurricane is the most disappointing of this build.
Offcourse I knew I had to shift to human to cast Hurricane and Cyclone Armor and shift back.
Now the problem is that there is a cast delay at Hurricane, which stops you from shifting back to human. So it is possible to quickly shift, cast cyclone armor, shift back. But you cannot shift, cast hurricane and shift back, but you have to wait for about 10 seconds or something. Besides of that Hurricane has a duration of only 50 seconds, so there are only 40 seconds left.
This made me often don't care about Hurricane, I only used Hurricane at bosses, while running through monsters, at PI monsters and during Baals Waves.
Because the good thing is that you have exact enough time between Baal's Waves. Directly after killing last monster, shift to human and cast Hurricane. Then cast cyclone armor and pick up gold or something and prepare for next wave. And then just before next wave, morph to wolf and switch weapon.

    Finds
    Pul from Forge (Hell)
Fal from Random monster in NM act5
    Tal's armor #12 from Baal

    Thanks for Reading!

    Awroooooo

Nice one. I made a twister wolf once upon a time (after I found a windhammer) and I have to say, I think your build (using the lash) is better. I'd left lycan/oak at 1pt and put the extra points in the wind skills which may have been a mistake as I found the constant shifting to be very frustrating. Like you I found Hurricane to be more trouble than it was worth - what was blizz thinking with the cast delay?

Its nice to see a different build. Any plans for it now or will you just let it look pretty on your character screen?

Wait, what? Another pat? So soon? Impressive, gratz!

I'm a sucker for builds like these. Nice! I love the way you synergized CtC spells there. I'm positively surprised by the damage your CtCs achieve.

Nice to hear someone else tried something like this too. If I would make a TwisterWolf, I wouldn't put points in cyclone armor as I suggested since it doesn't synergize Twister. Rain would be a nice armor for the ctc cyclone armor. For the twisterwolf, Hurricane will really be useless with it's 10 second duration.

I am thinking about lvling him up and try some duels with him.

Nice pat Didn't even know it could be done, synergyzing like this. Sounds like a good idea, although hard(er) to play (than a standard wolf). GG!

I put points in cyclone armor to add duration to Hurricane - looking back that wasn't the best idea, I would have been fine without it and those points would have been much better in Lyc. I played him back in 1.10 so Rain wasn't an option, but if I do ever build him again, I would definately use Rain.
