IK armor.
Doesn't look like much by itself until you start to count the mods from wearing multiple IK set items. IK armor has 50% poison resist, +25% Faster Hit Recovery (2 Items), 40% cold resist (3 Items), 40% fire resist (4 Items) and 40% lightning resist (5 Items). In addition to the resists on the armor the Maul will gain +204 Poison Damage Over 6 Seconds, the belt will gain Damage Reduced By 20%, the gloves will gain 10% Mana Stolen Per Hit, and the boots will gain Half Freeze Duration.
All in all IK armor is a very nice choice for the 7 more strength that you'll require over and above the IK Maul.
I just finished NM with this build at 60 and am still enjoying it, especially now that I have the 3 IK armor pieces.
I had some questions about talents however.
I have maxed out Dire Wolf (wanted the extra hp for pets), but have only just now started putting points into Grizzly.
My question is whether or not I'd be better off putting points into werebear and/or maul rather than maxing out Grizzly.
While maxing Grizzly would increase pet damage quite a bit, increasing werebear/maul would increase my personal damage significantly as well.
The synergy with DireWolf/Grizzly doesn't appear to be that strong. Dire Wolf raises the HP for both and Grizzly raises the damage for both. Right now, I have sturdy pets who don't do a lot of damage, but that isn't that big a deal as long as they can tank for me while I kill things.
Sansfear,
Glad it's working out for you. You will need to put the points into Grizzly if you want your wolves/grizzly to last or be effective in hell. You will be doing plenty of damage when you equip the IK Maul so don't sweat that part of it. You're wolves/grizzly will be invaluable to you as you climb in hell, especially when you are dealing with Iron Maiden.
I too am levelling my new ladder Werebear and he is doing NM Baal rushes to get from level 73 to 76 so he can equip the IK Maul and Armor. It takes a little longer to do each rush only using the Fleshrender/Tiamat's combination but that will go away real fast at level 76.![]()
I took down Uber Izual twice. The first one I had to recollect myself and resummon/rebuff and took him down. The second time I had a harder time but still managed to take him down but it was weird because the first run showed 11,000 AR and the second showed 10,000 and I noticed a difference between 1000AR. I wonder what that's all about. Maybe I should do a calculation and see what it should be. I only had one issue with my current mauler...he attacks way too slow. I got the dual Shael'd IK Maul on this guy. I got 11 Resist jewel on my Guillame's Face. I was wondering should I try to shop around for a resist/ias jewel? Would FHR SCs help this as well? I got 5 of those FHR SCs. I still got to wonder how would I get 3k more AR with 4x4 spaces + 3 spaces left.
anyone tried uber yet it seems hard to take him down . any gear suggestion
Mine :
IK all except helm
Armour socketed with Um
jalas
raven
2 ss 1summon Gc
Torch
anni
I took down Uber Izual but couldn't take down Uber Andy. She's one crazy gal. Luckily, I took her down with my MF Fishymancer (Necro). I was thinking of an alternate build for towndump Ubers which basically takes all the max points from Dire Wolf and put it into Maul for the AR help. I have the basic IK set up, Guillame's Face (Jalal's Mane for prebuff), CoH, Metalgrid and two Ravens with decent AR. Working on getting AR GCs and just buffing up those resists.
I finally finished hell with my TownDumpBear. I was only 80 when I finished so WSK was a bit of a nightmare, but Baal himself was quite easy (why is it always tougher to get to the bosses then kill them anyway).
Since I wasn't able to afford CoH or torches/annis yet, I put 4 PAms in a 500def 4socket armor which let me use the IK Maul at 76 even with the base 110Str (had 2 5Str Large charms as well to put me at 225)
I recently upgraded that to the Sazabi Armor It has 25 Str along with ~850Def and 30% FHR. This armor, along with the big FHR bonuses from the IK set and a FHR charm allowed me to reach the 6-frame hit-recovery breakpoint at 86%. Combine with a 6-frame attack and you have an unstoppable bear!
Resists remain a problem, especially against gloams, but, for the most part he can handle pretty much anything (Shockwave is the great equalizer!)
I'm still using the Blessed Aim merc due to low AR, but once I get more +skills items, that should go away and I can swap to the Might merc for some serious damage.
Thanks for the great guide!
Sansfear,
Good Job!Glad you liked the build.
I too am having to do a bit of adapting this ladder as items have been a litlle harder to acquire this time. My bear is level 80 now in act 2 Hell. He is using IK armor with most of the rest of the gear as stated in the guide. Once I Um rune my armor, I will have some charm space to add another couple skillers which will improve the effectiveness of my summons and SS skills though, I'm not having many problems thus far.
safetypro (or anyone for that matter), I was wondering if you could give me some advice on my alternate Ubers bear build. I was thinking that you don't max out DW but max out Maul for the AR. I think I'd take a hit on the hitpoints of the bear but I truly don't predict my bear to survive it all anyway. What do you think?
