yes, i played on bnet for over a year on dialup

ping was around 180-250, so casting was a little slow but works good
it gets laggy with 8 players or with lots of summons, keep your party small or with fewer players and youll be ok

Yes, I used to play on dial up too. You will sometimes run into lag though.

Same here, dialup does work but you get lag from time to time that could kill your character. I wouldn't suggest Hardcore with Dial-up. Just make sure that when you are playing none of your programs (firewall, antivirus, antispyware) or your OS is set to automatically update as when that happens you will most likely lose your Battle.net connection.

Dialup connections are not very reliable over a longer time. It's not a problem for open-send-write-close issues like browsing the web, but if a connection has to be held for a longer time (e.g. staying in a game for some time), it can be rather annoying to be disconnected because of that. When I still had dialup, it happened rather often, perhaps once an hour and of course, it always happened at an inopportune moment.

dialup also makes it easier to change your ip
when you get temp bans, just disconnect and reconnect for a new ip, good for a few more games
do it too often and your acct will be banned for 1 day iirc

It doesn't depend on your connection type, but whether you have a statix IP address or not. Most people don't and they normally just have to reset the line to the ISP, e.g. by switching off and on the router.
