What effect does the players setting have on game difficulty, mf, etc?
The /players 'x' command (SP) makes it as if that many people are in the game. IIRC for all intents and purposes, this reflects the b.net difficulty level for the number of people in the game - effectively making it twice as hard/twice the exp at p8. MF is not affected, but the number of items that can potentially drop - especially from bosses - will be. The more players the game thinks are there, the more items have the potential to drop. This is why most people will MF/level up in p8, if it's managable for their characters.
And if you didn't know, the X can be 1-8.
Thanks for the replies. I appreciated the info.
perhaps not allowed to discuss... but I have to ask.
talking about maxplayers in a game, I once came across something in the registry (trying to fix gamma problem with d2 :( )
in current_user/software/blizzard/d2 or whatever, there is a key named MAX_PLAYER with the value 0x00000008(8)
would it be possible to edit this to, say 32 instead, and get even extra exp and mf in sp?
no, the value is the default (or last used) max players when you create a game on bnet
aaah. makes more sense. thanks![]()
I can never get this command to work. Does it not work in public games, etc?
PS-I play on a Macbook, would this have any effect?
it only works on sp/open/tcp/ip games
just chat '/players 8'
edit: welcome to the forums, dishes are over there --> dishes
