    Re: VISTA and DIABLO 2

Diablo II with Vista works for me, every combo I tried it on, XP PC, Vista PC, XP laptop, Vista laptop.

One PC isn't another though, but if it doesn't work, you didn't waste 50 bucks (I hope not!).

I am connected to the internet, so clearly something is blocking access to Battle.net. I've tried numerous fixes, that didn't really fix anything:

    -downloading latest patch
-forwarding all ports under router settings
    -disabling Windows firewall
    -re-installation (3 times!)
    -I have a valid CD-Key

Over a year ago, I played on a laptop with XP, using the same router, with no problems. I'm on my desktop now, and running D2 on Vista. The laptop used a D-link network card (my router is D-link) and this desktop uses a Linksys receiver. Could the Linksys receiver be causing any problems, even though I have a great Internet connection using it? I believe the real problem is with Vista, though. I've heard of a hidden Vista firewall, not sure how to go about disabling that (if it exists). Is there anything that Vista could be doing that could block me from connecting to Battle.net?

I'm really out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I got that message before. The way I fixed it was I went into Regedit and deleted the battle.net registry and then restarted my computer and I was back on bnet no problem...
um messing around with that can screw up your computer, just a friendly reminder so you don't go blaming me when you have to reformat :P

    edit:
and while I'm here, I can run diablo. I just had to put everything in compatability mode to finally get it to work. I get really bad performance no matter what video mode I do though.

    OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
    Toshiba Satellite A215
    AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology TL-56 ~1.8GHz
    ATI Radeon X1200

Re: Microsoft Vista and DII issues

Hi, I got problems with DII:LoD on my vista computer. I get an error that says: UNHANDLED BREAKPOINT: (80000003) It is happening on solo and b.net too.
I can't play more than 5 minutes, it's always doing this error everytime I try to play.

I play with "normal" CDs (no No CD crack, no mods, not copied cds, not downloaded, no maphack or whatever)

Can you help me please? Thanks

Use a glide wrapper and run d2 as an administrator while disabling desktop composition.

Re: Microsoft Vista and DII issues

new way to fix that is uninstall and then run sp1 from windows vista update. then update ur drivers to what grafix engine ur using (if built in nvidia then go there and do not use the microsoft one) then install the 2 disks. run bnet wait for upload of patch. join a game. exit and restart computer. should work fine after that.

I had been able to load and get onto bnet but as soon as I did it was chop chop chop...FPS down to single digits ext. But I found that by running video test and selecting to run in 2D mode rather than 3D no more chop chop chop in fact I am running 60+ FPS

I made a forum account just to give props to this guy. This works. DII was choppy in Vista and whenever I opened any interface (map, inventory, etc.), I lagged to a complete stop. Now it's running 100% smoothly. Try this if you're having lag issues!

2D mode looks like absolute crap.

If you want quality graphics without sacrificing an ounce of performance, download a glide wrapper.

Re: Microsoft Vista and DII issues

So what's the authority currently for how to fix the performance issues with Vista?

I just got a new laptop with 32 bit Vista. I had no problems installing D2 and LOD, but when I first went to run it it said it is known to have compatibility issues. I thought "yeh sure, I've never had any problem running diablo on like 5 different computers that weren't even close to the specs of this machine."

Was I ever surprised. So I basically can't be on bnet since it's so choppy. Single player is smoother until I get to a more populated area, which is apparently every area past the den of evil. Also, putting on the map automatically slows the game to a crawl.

I tried various things I had read in this thread, but to no effect. Is there a definitive way to make my most favorite game of all time work on my vista run computer? Thanks.

Re: Microsoft Vista and DII issues

How would i get it to run on the vista? I tried a few things, such as running it in xp service pack 2. Anyways, my error message comes up when i try to run it.
It says "known compatiblity issues" and then when i hit run it goes ???????????2??????????????.
