worst for me was when i was 15...in manchester, hadn't eaten and then started drinking vodka and pernod (odd combo, but it was cheap at bargain booze :grin
i passed out in town apparently at around 12 and i dnt remember anything from 9pm onwards...apparently made a pass at everyone i was out with, before they had to fone my mam to get me as they couldn't shift me
afaik, the worst i did that night was pee on the steps of a *** (edit:why does the word filter remove the other word for homosexual? not like it's an insult :/) bar in canal street...(didn't have a ny sore parts in the mornin thank god lol)
You're crazy to be drinking at that age. Unless the drinking age is way different than here. Even then, for us military types anyway, depending where we are at the drinking age can go down to 19.
drinking age is 18 here, but that's only age you are allowed to purchase it.
it's only illegal in the UK to give alcohol to under 5's.
police can only confiscate from 16 year olds if it is being drunk in public places eg parks etc
either way, most kids my age drink (at least the ones i know) and most can hold alcohol better than the adults i know.
Okay, and how old are you? My personal opinion ~ people under the age of 18 should not drink as most people younger than that (even several older) are not mature enough to handle the consequences of what they do. Nor do they consider the things that can happen if they so chose to 'indulge' themselves in those types of drinks.
i'm 16 and i may be immature in many respects, but i am mature, albeit often irresponsible over drinking and it's consequences.
underage drinking is rife in Manchester. i'm not even one of the heaviest drinkers in my year at school, and i can drink most adults under the table.
quite aware of all the problems etc caused by drinking, but it's too much a part of social activity to drop and tbh, except the obvious liver damage, ther are little consequences that will matter. even the whole drunk unprotected sex argument is flawed as most of the lads i'm m8s won't even forget the use of contraception even when bladderd.
valid point you make though and i would tend to agree with you. my m8s are exempt from the norm given our size compared to others, and our conduct when drunk. if you see half of the drunk teenagers in stockport/manchester it's frightenin how violent they can get and obviously, i see that drinking when under 18 is wrong :azn:
i think i rambled a fair bit then...but w/eva
I'm not saying you, or anyone else that drinks for that matter, are an immature person as a whole, but only that when faced with those situations an individual can become or behave in an immature way. I'm not telling you to stop drinking, that is entirely your decision. I don't particularly agree that 16 is even considered a socially acceptable age to drink, even if it was in private (at home, etc). This could also stem from where we both have grown up, and what's been 'drilled into our heads' as socially accepted behavior. And that's fine as well, as everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Yea but my point was, since its legal and accepted.. there's not much interest and non of the "omg your cool cause u drink".
it's more omg you "you don't drink?" where i come from, it's seen as strange if you dont drink booze. nout cool about drinkin, but its just seen as the norm.
but i do think if we had a different upbringing like for eg. the french. ie having a glass of wine at a meal, it wouldn't become such an issue with binge dirnkin.
Pfft, conformist that gave in to peer pressure is what you are.
Why should it matter if people think you're weird for not drinking? If they don't like it, that's their problem. :azn:
