I have been using my installation of x86 Vista since christmass 2007 and no problems so far. All my hw on default settings plus basic sw installed.
And I daresay there may be more reasons not to go mac then not to go pc

Actually mine does. No crash in the year I have it now. Only reason why I reformated was to upgrade to Windows 7. Imo the only reason why you get more problems crash wise with windows is because you got way more options in what Hardware to get. Each one uses it's own drivers and everybody can set his own configuration up. So it's really alot more difficult for Windows to be compatible with a system than for a mac where you get preassembled computers which use the Hardware best compatible with the OS. There are some advantages to assembling the pc and providing the self written OS with it.

My laptop's motherboard broke yes. Except for that, I didn't have any problems with neither my laptop or my desktop.

Both pc's run like a charm, have never ever crashed, nor froze, the only reason I formatted my main pc today is because I have access to a legal retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate through MSDN which I am installing on both my computers.

I can run any application I want, I use both computers day in day out for both business purposes and entertainment purposes. I never have any virus or trojans or whatsoever since I know how to avoid them. I don't even have an antivirus installed.

Now let me reverse your question: give me one good reason why I should use a Mac instead of a Windows based pc except for the so called "style value"?

Edit: now that I think about it, there is actually one reason why a Mac is handy. Mac Pro's workstations are useful to use in companies because of their huge specs. They are kinda unaffordable for any civilian though.

I want to upgrade to Windows 7 too. My other boot that is. But they don't release it anymore. I do have a key though.

Anybody care to PM me a source where I can acquire the 64 bit Windows & version? Thanks YOU!!

Working on one of my finale written assignements now. Although I'm not completely done configuring the server, it should be easy compared to writing what I'd do and equipment needed to expand the current bussiness so it can access the internett, provide a description of why I chose the solution I did, what other options are available, and last but not least asess(SP?) the vulnerability of said solution.

No **** sherlock. I meant the operation system, and you know it. If that's the best answer you can come up with, congrats to you then.

@ CC: Officially Win7 RC can't be aquired anymore, and the full retail version won't be available till October 21st. Only reason I have it already is because my uni cooperates with microsoft. So unless you wanna go illegal, I can't help you

Of course I'm talking illegal. Or somebody could gieb me their RC version which I can legally register with my own key. I didn't state 'PM me' for nothing.
